Charcters who were eliminated too soon from a franchise *Spoiler*

So i just finished Killzone 2, and wow what a game, but killing off Radac IMO was a HUGE mistake. It made me think of when i finished Mass Effect and killing Saren.Why would you kill off great characters? Have you felt the same towards heroes or villains who were, in your mind, prematurely eliminated from a series?

I don't think I've played any games where a favored character has been killed (permanently).

I never felt like Saren needed to stay alive. He justified his purpose in the fiction and provided a boss. I never felt like he was much of a good character but I understand what you mean. I was annoyed with the way that killed Soap in the new MW3 because it was dumb.

I could tell you about games that SHOULD have killed characters (not because I hate them but to enhance the story) but I can't think of games fitting your criteria.

In Saints Row: The Third, Johnny Gat. Granted, I have not finished the main game yet, but from what I've heard, that was it.

For me, it was in the first Mass Effect when you make "the choice". Especially since I felt my decision didn't make a huge difference in ME2.

As for other types of entertainment...

Tai in Gears of War 2 or any Carmine.

Half-Life 2
