My favorite part of RPG's is the dialogue system (e.g - http://www.flickr.com/photos/spaceninja/2607620905/). I think this style of conversation would be great in, say, a shooter genre where you could order your squad pre-breach of a building which way to work through the building while you flank the bogeys. In sports genres you could answer interview as the Manager of the club. So what do you think... could games be made better with RPG style dialogue?

Try SWAT 3. Least for the FPS thing.
I guess it is similar. you don't really have to talk about it but you have to use a com rose thing similar to the chat tree.

Absolutely I think games would be better with more dialogue trees. It really allows you to learn more about the world you're in, you can get more of a backstory than just a linear progression, and lets the world open up and unfold for you. It also adds some interesting replayability because you want to go back and see what the other trees lead to. It also allows you to flush your character out a bit more, even if the games don't include a dynamic good/evil character system, sometimes it's nice just to be able to give your character more.. character.

In all sincerity, this AND the other thing.
Basically I'm bored with silent protagonists.
