Should GB be doing 2 ER's of the same game, as opposed to other things like QLs, video reviews, or two different games ER'd instead of the same game?
Classic business saying: "Put your money on the table."
For GB, this means focus on making sure all your content is actually being seen. I'm going to take a random guess and say that over 80% of people only watch one ER being VJ/BR, and not both. Instead of doing the same ER, why don't you have BR make an ER of a different game, or I don't know, be more consistent about putting up video reviews for reviewed games?
This is not a thread asking how much of each ER you watch.
Criticism: Why 2 ERs?
I do. Watch BR first because they're ahead and seem to be enjoying some aspects of the game more now, although the jokes VJ crack are still good enough for me to watch their side of things too.
I watched both until the 2nd group got to the half hour wall crawling part. I didn't watch that again, but I might pick them back up.
Something like this would be more appropriate for a heavily branching game like Mass Effect. Deadly Premonition seems pretty linear, despite the open-world stuff.
I'm happy to get whatever they give me though. Two is still better than one!
I'm watching both.
TBH it's not really a bother, the guys are clearly having fun doing it and that's all that matters.
I didn't watch the P4 Endurance Run so, not everybody is going to like the same things.
I watch both, but they could do with just one.
And what's up with people saying we can't provide constructive criticism for free content? We're supposed to just be mute? People need feedback. If someone gives you free shit, it's still shit. And you have every right to criticize it.
" How many of you actually watch both ERs? Don't answer. I'm not watching either. The joke of "its a bad game, lets laugh at it" could have been done in a single quick look.
I agree with the OP. It seems the crew is investing way too much time into this game. One team would've been sufficient. I'd rather see more quicklooks.
Tbh, I started watching both teams until about video #10 and now I don't follow the ER anymore at all. At the beginning parts the game showed potential for genious moments but I eventually realized that 90% of this game is just pure boredom.
@Briguile:
Quicklooks > Reviews > Endurance Run
I'm only watching the VJ videos right now. I'll likely go back and watch the BR ones once this is all over, though. I can't sit through two videos a day of Deadly Premonition, so one is more than enough. That said, you don't have to watch both or even one of them, and they're still putting up plenty of Quick Looks and other things as well. And if they were playing different games, people would be complaining about that, too.
" @Evilsbane said:me too. It's the best way" @hencook: I watch both, every day, The day they come out. "ditto. I think it's one of the funniest things they've done in a long time. "
Seriously, not much to do a video review of. They don't like doing them too often, as you can see their main content (being quicklooks, interviews and ERs) are all pretty raw, rarely super processed and edited like a video review. It takes a lot of work for a small site like that to do a video review. So it has to usually be something pretty significant.
Also it's not like it's slowing down quick looks and other features, so what's the problem?
Two makes sense for DP, the game's about 20 hours long without doing too many sidequests, and persona took them (almost) 100 hours to beat.
The only problem I have with there being two Endurance Runs of Deadly Premonition is how similar they are; quite a few times Vinny and Jinny make the exact same observations and jokes as Bryan and Brad.
First of all, I love the whole Bomb Squad crew. They each have their own unique talent they bring to the site. I'm watching them both concurrently, but I have some issues with this whole thing. VJ are having fun, taking their time, doing side missions, exploring the world, etc.
On BR, Ryan is constantly telling Brad what to do and how he's doing it all wrong so Brad gets frustrated (for example naked ceiling lady) and goes into fits of swearing. I just don't think these two are getting to enjoy it because Ryan is constantly pushing Brad to finish the main story. But look, when compared to VJ, BR have less money, less side quests done, but they're further along in the story. I don't think they are getting the full experience and this makes me wonder how Brad and Ryan play games when they review them. Do they play them thoroughly or just rush through like this?
TRY TO HAVE SOME FUN, GUYS! RELAX! YOUR VIEWING AUDIENCE ISN'T GOING ANYWHERE! TAKE YOUR TIME!
Yeah I find they get a little tiresome myself.
I guess I find them amusing but I generally have to be pretty bored to watch them.
I would definitely swap them out for quicklooks, but whatever.
Yea, there's a lot of content daily on this site, so I don't know what all the complaining is about.
I'm not overly concerned with the lack of video reviews, because in place of a 5-7 minute video review, you get a written review and maybe a 25 minute quicklook... not too shabby from where I'm sitting.
I was following Brad and Ryan's walkthrough, but once VJ and Jeff caught up, I started watching both.
" It's funny how half the people here are missing the point of the thread, so I'll re-edit to make it clear. "Except that is the point. A lot of people (myself included) watch both and enjoy both. Therefore, by default, the content is a success and your entire argument fails.
I watch a block of one and then a block of another. I find it actually adds a lot to the proceedings and I much prefer it this way. Since this game is so much shorter than P4, I'd rather get a lot of parts this way than only a few the traditional way.
The way I understand it they only cover stuff that they themselves are intersted in. So even if there were one less endurance run I don't think they would just start reviewing and doing quick looks of extra stuff just cause. Also they just started Thursday Night Throwdown adding even more video content to the site so it really doesnt seem like theyre cutting back at all. As for the video reviews Im fairly sure anything they say in them you can find in the text. If there is any video content they could do without its probably those.

"Complaining about free content. "
Just because something is free doesnt mean it is beyond criticism. I spend a lot of time on this free site and if I or anyone else feels like their time was wasted they should be able to say so. That said I do not feel like Giant Bomb has wasted my time, but maybe I have made some bad lifestyle choices. Like watching dudes get stuck in a traffic jam and then immediately follow that up by watching dudes play a game and watch more dudes play that same section of that same game. What am I doing...
