Dan's 2015 goals ... and yours.

So is there anything you want to cross off a gaming bucket list for this calender year. I've got a few startling omissions.

• I have yet to beat (or even get past the first disk) of Final Fantasy VII
• Never beaten a Sonic game.
• Ocarina of Time remains unfinished
• And Metroid Prime

I need to sort one of those out at least.

In terms of gaming resolutions, I handled most of those last year: finishing the Final Fantasy games I hadn't played yet, going back to some old games like Baldur's Gate, and just knocking a bunch of games off my to-play list. This year, I really only want to finish Pathologic, I suppose.

As for non-gaming resolutions, I have plenty. Being a college student about to graduate, I need to put more consideration into what I'm going to do after college. I've been a bit lazy doing actual work, so I aim to read, write, and study Japanese every day. I also want to look at my writing as a whole and try to fix some of the bigger issues I have with it. Finally, I need to get out of the house more and interact with people--I'm somewhat of a hermit.

I still have Mass Effect 3 in the shrink wrap. Besides that, I have a pretty tremendous backlog.

I should probably stop buying games and actually playing them.

Last year I cleared some important milestones without planning to: Played through Persona 3 and 4 for the first time, and finished Final Fantasy Tactics without cheats for the first time.

This year I vow to make a game of some substance in GameMaker! I doodled around in their tutorials last year, I'm going to get my head around basic code this time with the help of this guy!

I kind of already wrote a blog about this =P

Basically I'm going to forgo new games this year to play my WII, and other, older, consoles.

I'm also learning to code (various languages) if that counts as a gaming goal.

Game-related goals? I don't really have any. I guess I should see if I can make a game of some kind.

Come to think of it, I never did play a 3D Zelda game despite owning 3 of them.

@cornbredx: Duder, yes! I finished Dragon Age: Inquisition over the break and then immediately jumped into Far Cry 4 and it left me feeling...I dunno. Burnt out? I went through my library and pulled out all the Bioware/Bethesda/RPG games I enjoyed during the 360 run and this year I'm going for a grand tour.

Game-wise? I haven't played Super Mario Galaxy despite owning it and a system to play it on for over three years. I really need to not let that get to four. I'd also like to finally play those new Shadowrun games(Returns and Dragonfall) that have been sitting on my computer for what feels like forever, and just cut through more of my ever-growing backlog in general.

As far as game related stuff goes:

Never buy another season pass until I finish the main game. Or, at the very least, the first piece of content is out.

Only ever preorder games that I am 100% possitive I will finish, if I preorder at all.

Finish hotline miami. I stopped on the hostpital level

Learn another character besides Shazam in injustice

Start going to local injustice tournaments again. Since I moved te closer one is a 2hour drive to sacramento BLT(Blocking is Low Tier)

Lastly, not explode if neither splinter cell 7 or fallout 4 is anounced

• More D&D
• Learn a new RPG system that's not D&D or Shadowrun related
• Maybe learn some coding.

• System Shock 1 and 2 for me
• I want to play through all the MGS games before Phantom Pain comes out
• Knock off Shenmue from my backlog
• Run through a bunch of smaller PC games that I just need to sit down and play

I'm planning to document my experiences in the Japanese arcades (Tokyo, Nagoya) playing various fighting games competitively and also some more obscure games there.

I could already write a lot now but I'm gonna hold off for a while because I have a lot of travelling around to organise. So far I've met Tokido, Kindevu and encountered Daigo Umehara several times in the wild as well as a few other prominent players. Still hunting for the Kayo Police selfie.

And not fail my degree. That might be a sound notion.

Edit: I'm also contributing to a Chrome extension that will show Chinese characters (Taiwanese & Cantonese + non-simplified Mandarin) on mouse over similar to a pre-existing Japanese extension.

My goal is to beat all three games in the Final Fantasy XIII trilogy. I probably won't do it. I'm not even sure if I want to do it. But I have decided it is my goal and we shall see how it goes. I'm also gonna beat Earthbound. Earthbound is a great game.

@shindig: You should play through Sonic 3 & Knuckles, because it's the best one.

I'm going to try to get through all these PS3 collections I bought that I either haven't started or got distracted from before I finished (God of War, Jak & Daxter, Sly Cooper, Metal Gear Solid, Infamous, Uncharted. There's probably another one).

• Finish Deus Ex
• Finish La Mulana
• Play Trine (I've been putting off playing it for soooo long).
• Beat a game of Alpha Centauri

I'd really like to finish/playthrough

• Fire Emblem Awakening
• Virtue's Last reward
• The Witcher 2
• Half Life

• System Shock 2
• And if I finally get a Wii U, I'd like to run through all of it's games.

I don't know. Finish MGS3 before Drew. Complete my Steam library alphabetically. Dark Souls（I'm scared）.

I think I might finally play Final Fantasy VI this year. I'd like to continue my 2014 trend of hammering through my Steam backlog.

I had a bit of a think, and something I'd like to finish this year is Metroid Prime 2 in the Metroid Prime Trilogy. I've never played all the way through MP2.

Actually, I need to finish a Resident Evil. More specifically 2 which saw me get to Birkin back in 1999 and then barely play it since.

I have ambitious plans, but none related to videogames.

I took the first week of 2015 to go through every physical game that I have for consoles dated 2005-2014, and determine whether I really needed to keep the game.

End result: ~45 games went to my local Goodwill two days ago. I HAVE SHELF SPACE NOW!

2015 gaming goal:

Get my backlog to less than 5 games per system that is currently hooked up. (That will take a LONG while, just factoring in PS+ and GwG content.)

My backlog is literally 150+ games deep at this point.

But, for now, I'm just trying to finish up all my Xbox One games, since that's a smaller, more manageable list of games to complete.

But, here is my list for this year:

- Xbox One: Dragon Age: Inquisition, Sunset Overdrive, Lords of the Fallen, Shadow of Mordor, Farcry 4

- PC: (Goodness where to start) Wasteland 2, Divinity: Original Sin

- And, I'd like to run through some older games, mainly the FFX HD remaster, Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 remasters, and Suikoden 2 since it's on PSN.

As for my personal life, I've pretty much achieved everything I wanted in 2014, so if I can just maintain, that'll be a goal unto itself.

Life stuff : I'm fresh out of college and I got myself a nice career start at my current job. Planing on moving out of my shitty student apartment and move into a nice place. Also thinking of getting back into the dating scene.

Video game shenanigans : I've been playing Lords of The Fallen a lot and I'm really liking it. After I'm done with that I really really really want to get into Dark Souls. I've tried before and It wasn't really clicking for me but I Lords of The Fallen having actual tutorials really got me into the style of game.

I already have Dark Souls on Steam but is Dark Souls II worth playing?

I want to get a Playstation TV and dig into that library this year. Current list of games I want to play on there is: Disgaea 4, Persona 4 Golden, Muramasa Rebirth, Danganronpa 2 and Sly 4(because I got a free copy of it for the Vita). Maybe Deception 4 so it's not all just ports?

My only goal for this year and the following 3 is to not fail any of my classes.

I want to get into master league in starcraft. Been so close numerous times, this is the year!

Damn, SC2 is so awesome. I never made it past Gold I think, though :(

Complete X-Com: Enemy Unknown.

Loves the game, but always get sidetracked when the pressure of losing important party members become too overwhelming...

My goal is to finish games period. Of my 15 PS4 games (not counting digital), I've only completed one of them. I've got 365 games on Steam and I haven't played 155 of them. Only 47 of my Steam games have more than 5 hours played. I need to stop buying games until I start to get through some of my backlog.

Play less video games. Write a few short stories and a screenplay. Get my finances on track.

The only thing I really want to do is complete Peace Walker before MGS5 comes out.

Mine is simply to get back into playing games. I figure it's a good year to do so.

Gaming related goals I have this year have to do with games that aren't released yet. Namely Bloodborne, Witcher 3, MGS V, and if it's released this year: Persona 5.

Outside of playing games, I've been thinking about making games. I've worked on a couple and I feel like I have a strong grasp of the workflow. I'm leaning more towards the pen and paper variety though, mainly because my art and writing are stronger than my coding.

@shindig: Make Metroid Prime a priority.

Edit: I should probably keep up with gaming news and releases better, especially now that I'll be able to play games when they come out now. Also, I would like to only buy games when I plan to play them so that I stop wasting money on games I'll never play.
