Did you ever own a Nintendo 64 Expansion Pak? (Gaming Question of the Day 9-7-10)

You had to have it to get the most out of games like Perfect Dark and Donkey Kong 64 and Turok 2, among others. 
 
So thought I'd pose the question. Did you ever buy one? And if so, do you still have it today? I do. :)

Yep, got one with DK64 or Perfect Dark, one of those.

I didn't have an N64 so no.

For Perfect Dark.

it didn't give you the most out of the games it wouldn't let you play them if you didn't have it.

Mine's still in my N64. I had to go to an shady import store to buy a Japanese one so I could play Zelda: Majora's Mask as no other store in my town centre had one on sale.

I was so excited when I got mine, I thought it would make my N64 twice as better like an N128, but then I realized it only made it an N68.

Yeah, needed one for Perfect Dark. I remember when I bought the game I was going to get the expansion but the store didn't have any, so I had to run all over the place looking for someplace carrying the damn things. I don't think stores really knew what it was and that 90% of the people buying this new game are going to want it etc because several places were out of stock. I may have just been unlucky though.

No, because I never owned an N64. Or any Nintendo console for that matter. I'm not even sure what one is.

In hindsight, it was a bad decision.

Yup, 30 bucks for an extra 4 megabytes of memory that was relevant for 1, maybe 2 games. 

yes, i had one that came with donkey kong 64. it was epic.

I did. And I remember when I sold it the guy at Funco asking what the hell it was.

Hell yeah, I needed those extra 4 MB of memory for Perfect Dark bot matches!

Hell yeah. It made Rogue Squadron and Perfect Dark look quite a bit better.

I still have the box for mine too. Man I love boxes...

I never owned one, but I sure remember renting games that needed it, and the store giving me a separate box with the pak rattling around inside. Good times.

Yep, and with the amount of hours I put into Star Wars Racer and Perfect Dark, it was well worth it.

Yeah, bought it off a kid at school for $14 so I could play Perfect Dark and Majora's Mask.  Years later, a roommate sold his n64 with my expansion pack still inside.  He bought me a new one though, it cost him $30.

Yep, came with Donkey Kong. And I couldn't not have Donkey Kong.

Needed one to get 4-players on Gauntlet Legends.

No. I never had any games that needed it.

Bought Majoras Mask, wouldnt work, plauged my parents for several days until i got a expansion pak.

I totally forgot that Majora's Mask used it. On the contrary to the guy who said it was a bad investment because so few games used it. Consider the quality of said games: 
 
Turok 2, Donkey Kong 64, Perfect Dark, Zelda: Majora's Mask, someone said Star Wars Rogue Squadron and Gauntlet Legends. Those are some pretty heavy hitters. I agree that I thought it was WELL worth it once I had mine. And yep mine is still in the system as well! :)

That game owned so much ass. Sad to see the series run into the ground.

Yeah I got a third party one for cheap. I don't think I ever owned any games that made use of it though.

Nope, but I do think that the Expansion Pak is probably one of the more successful peripherals/add ons for any console platform, ever. 
 
Edit: How come there's no wiki page for the expansion pak? It needs to have one.

 I got it with Donkey Kong 64, but a shit load of games supported it.

By the time it was out I either had my import Dreamcast or my heart was set on the Dreamcast.  I wasn't spending very much on console games, and I think I was playing a fair amount of EQ1 as well.

I got it with Donkey Kong 64.

Came for free with DK64, so it was an easy purchase for me. Would've bought it anyway for Majora's Mask.
