Do you believe the next generation of consoles is coming out within the next 3 years 2013?

I hope not.  If Blizzard has proved anything, we don't need fancy graphics for gameplay...D3 looks like crap, and it's coming out in 2011.

Plus, games like TF2 and whatnot are STILL alive.

It's entirely possible but not what the people are clamouring for. Although the developers might be at this point.

Yeah, I think they'll announce it in 2012 and it will be out in 2013.  We may even hear rumblings and spec rumors next year.

Probally, they will annouce it, however they will try to keep the current consoles alive with natal and that wand thing with motion controls. Then again the ps2 was alive for quite a while too after the ps3 launched, there will be like two sets of consoles by then or one announced.

I dont see the point to be honest.. last thing that we need now is another console generation. I dont think either the 360 or the PS3 has had it's golden era of games just yet... and to implement a more powerful console and get it onto homes costs these companies a massive loss on hardware. With the economy and the cost of further improving these technolgies without the use of cloud networking.. i would say no.

Yea probably in exact 3 years at the least, but I don't expect it to be released before that, I don't really care about next gen either, I didn't jump on the bandwagon until a few years after this gen started, I still haven't even bought a Wii, this will most likely be the case with next generation too, if my favorite developers are taking this long to come up with more than 1 game this gen, I don't expect it to change next generation and hence I'll wait even longer to jump ship.

Games are becoming so much more expensive to produce these days than before, especially with the higher expectations from character/voice acting, that I think we won't see a true next gen until 2014.  As was posted above, many devs haven't even published that many games this gen, and with the motion control flood coming soon, that will need a few years to ramp up as well.

I think Microsoft and Nintendo probably will debut a new one within the next few years, as Nintendo and Microspft may both want to catch up to the PS3's blu-ray tech and all that.

I can't see Sony doing that though, That'd be such a waste of money in my opinion. I'm not sure if they are in huge profit territory with the PS3 yet or not?

No. Only Microsoft seem in the right place for a new system and considering the state of the economy, it doesn't seem like the right time for a big console launch though with the iPad doing alright, who knows.

I think the gaming community will be hearing about development and announcements by 2013, definitely.  At the rate computer hardware has advanced since the release of the current generation I'd be hard pressed to believe that game developers and hardware developers wouldn't want to start making plans on new ips and hardware models to take advantage of the amazing stuff that has hit the market recently.

Six-core processors, PCI Express 2.1, DDR5 Memory, Direct X 11, and that's what we have now.  In 2013 the stuff we'll have 3 years from now we'll be over twice as good.
