I'm not at all a super competitive multiplayer guy. I don't think I've ever decided I needed have a laugh at someone's expense in a game and haven't really had it done to me. As the boring player that I am, I ask the community, do you grief? If so, what is your most memorable being-a-dick moment? No judgement, just curious.
Do you grief?
Well, I had played a multiplayer server in minecraft once, bad thing was that some british guys were building a huge ass tower in the distance, me and my friends were afraid of them messing with out stuff and steal it without looking. I went ahead and filled the entire tower with TNT... yeah, you see where this is going, now one of my friends thought about lava instead and decided to have it go down some stairs where... yep, TNT'd the entire thing, I felt bad afterwords, so I put down a sign saying, "Terrorists did it." and we left it alone.
Now, they were not happy with us, and decided to nuke our castle into the ground... yeah, i was a jerk, and I feel bad, but don't blow up my friends castle to get to me!
@Infininja:
I love you, I do the exact same thing in battlefield bad company 2. They may have a couple snipers, but a team filled with 12 snipers is too much and should be rewarded with pissing them the hell off, I hate them damn wookies that do nothing but be useless and die. I hate them. you are justified..
" Would any of you lovely chaps be interested in a long story of griefing, in which I have had charges pressed against me? "How is that even allowed?
No. It takes a really sad and pathetic individual to get joy out of griefing. They are playing the game how they want to play it. If you don't like it go some place else.
I usually play seriously but from time to time I have definitely griefed. I remember actually griefing in animal crossing ds, I totally fucked my brothers town and he was PISSED.
" Hell fucking yes.You have now given me a reason to hate the Smudge tool in Photoshop."
Griefing friends is fun. I have neighbors in my dorm who play Minecraft all the time and I've done some really crazy things (un)intentionally.
I was remembering it from Paint.NET, which is Smudge. I'd have checked, but I didn't think that they were different things.
No. I play games my way and others play their way. If they're playing in a way I don't like, I leave them alone and go do my own thing.
I only grief when it's local and I'm with friends. Like using their head as a step to make a jump in the New Super Mario Bros. Wii game.
I did my fair share of griefing in socom with buddies of mine whenever we ran into a group of douche bags. There could only be so many douche bags in a room, and me and my friends figured we should be the ones allowed to stay. So after fucking with people by killing them, blowing their cover, or any other combination of things, we would kick them. Good times.
No, but I did a little when I was younger.
Back with MechAssault on Xbox, my friend and I were messing around. He kept running circles around a building shooting at it, and I told everyone he was my retarded brother and not to kill him. Halfway through the match, he started to actually play and started to kill people. I still remember the guy yelling at me through the headset because my "retarded brother" kept killing him. We were like 12.
FYI, if you teamed up in that game with two Owens mechs, you could circle strafe an enemy mech and it was impossible for them to turn fast enough to kill you. Not really griefing, but probably frustrating as hell.
" Nah. I figure the Golden Rule applies to the Internet just as it does in the real world. Besides, if I'm not having enough fun playing the actual game, something is wrong. "This.
Not really a griefing thing over a simple state of madness while playing Battlefield 2, playing as Special Ops, finding a car or HMV then loading the hood with lots of C4. Drive to a spot to capture it then jump out of the car letting it stop a little ways away (hopefully blocking the path to some extent), stop to capture a point & if enemies pop up then just hit the detonator. Possible sign of griefing might be from people jumping into the car only to have it no longer have a driver when I get to where I'm going or have the thing just excessively blow up from all the C4.
I like 1943. simple, fun, quick.
Sometimes, usually only if someone on my team has done something exceptionally dumb and deserves to be punished. Portal 2 co-op is pretty brutal for griefing as your team-mate is pretty heavily dependant on the placement of your portals. I also like setting people on fire in L4D2, nothing complicated. However I think this is hilarious.
I enjoy griefing my friends but otherwise no. I leave that to the kids with gamertags/steam IDs like XxXMLGPr0sNiPeZ420XxX.
