Very tough choice but . . . . I think I'd pick Super Metroid. Or Resident Evil Remake . . . but honestly I do think Super Metroid is the best game of all time and I can get 100% in an hour, so I voted yes. :P
Do you have any single, ONE, favorite game of all time? (Gaming Question of the Day 9-24-10)
I can't even begin to imagine having a top number one favorite. It would be just a large cluster of games.
I can't make a top 10 order, but I do know that Streets of Rage 2 is a perfect game and no other satisfies me quite as much. Dynamite Headdy would probably be number 2.
My favorite game would probably have to be some combination of Super Metroid, Zelda: LttP, Chrono Trigger, or Final Fantasy VI from my golden age of gaming, but I don't think I could pick one as my absolute favorite. Played each tons of times and still love them, but they're so different it'd be impossible to choose.
Modern games probably won't eclipse them as my favorite, but I'd probably pick a game from the last couple years as the "best" game I've played.
Yes. There is no doubt in my mind that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is the greatest game I've ever played. No matter how much I like Half-Life 2, BioShock and Dragon Age: Origins, TESIV will always be the game that holds a special place in my heart. I was too much of an idiot and didn't play enough games from the earlier gaming eras to remember those games with any real fondness, despite my love of the N64 Zelda games, so I'd say that I'm currently in my Golden Age, and maybe in ten years or further, these will be the games I'll remember as fondly as others remember 8-bit and 16-bit games.
My all time favorite is FF VII for sure, no question. I cant say it introduced me to rpg's (I had played Chrono Trigger quite a bit actually, even when none of my friends liked it ) but it hooked me more than any game has, and I've played as many games as I possibly could for at least 6yrs or so directly after that. I still wish I could get my copy to work... I might just have to replace it...
" My all time favorite is FF VII for sure, no question."'sigh'
" Nope, I feel that would be too limiting and there are too many variables involved. No game can fulfill every need. "How many needs to you want a game to fulfil? For me, it's purely based on enjoyment and there is a game that I always enjoy more than any other and can play for hours and hours at a time and that's FF7.
I have so so so many other games I adore and always love to play but FF7 will always be my favourite for so many reasons.
No, but I have some good ones. My list of games I can play forever is a pretty good example of ones that I love too much, but still, nothing pops up as #1
" @whacknasty said:Lol. I know, it really shouldn't be, looking at how many games I've played overall. And it has not aged very well. I guess I'm just an emo, buster sword lugging, giant bird ranch hand at heart... O_o. I do have some close runners up though..." My all time favorite is FF VII for sure, no question."'sigh' "
Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee
Chrono Trigger
The Legend of Dragoon
Persona 3
Resident Evil 0
Tekken 3
Tetris
Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo
Marvel vs Capcom 2
It was Mario 64 but the the Galaxy games have put me off the idea now so I'd probably say Shenmue II. Never had an experience like it.
" Can't say I have a particularly specific game I consider "best game ever", but...Thats awesome. I can't get anyone around here into it as much as I am. I remember buying my first Gameboy with only Tetris, and I played that thing non stop for about 3 years (I even went as far as to have a "strip Tetris" competition with an ex girlfriend back in the day. She must have missed all of the time I spent on the Gameboy and actually accepted the challenge...lol)
@whacknasty said:"Tetris "... this. I play it every day, in various editions, formats and consoles. "
" Legend of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time "Ah, that is a great one too. I think that is the only other game, besides the FF series, that I actually spent hundreds of hours on (just goofing around mostly)...
Funny thing is, it can never be a recent game, because there's always a nostalgia thing attached to it. Your age pretty much determines (to an extend) what game (in a particular time period of your life) is your absolute favorite. This is indeed hard. I'd say... it must at least be SNES game, since that system wowed me the most. Chrono Trigger comes to mind as well as DKC, Street Fighter II, Contra III, Final Fantasy III, Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past, Super Castlevania IV... Wait, yeah, there is a SNES game that totally is my favorite! The very first SNES game I saw! Legend of Mystical Ninja! I know, it's not the best game by any standards, but man, that game was sheer magic to me!
man thats hard... There is a place in my heart for Super Mario World, because that is the game that I've played almost exclusively during my child hood.
But one game that I truly love, and would be on my desert island list would be Fallout 2.
Or Resident Evil 4
I CANT CHOOSE!!
The legend of Zelda OOT, Not just cause I love the game and want to make babies with it but also cause it is the game that got me into gaming in the first place.

"duder, i love you. I feel the exact same way with what you said.
Although I might've switched Dragon Age for Fallout 3, but still <3 I will now commence to follow you.
Not at all. I love that game. It's not my favorite, however." Yes. My favorite game of all time is Jak 3. Weird right? "
Super Metroid would have to be my favorite game.
As crazy as this sounds, for me its Final Fantasy X.
It was the first JRPG that I enjoyed through and through, granted there were moments that were "Japanese" for the lack of a better word, it was the first game that really got me engaged in a storyline. And I think that the turn-based game play still holds up well.
