Do you keep all of your physical games?

I used to keep all of the games I ever bought and ended up having to get more and more shelves. On the other hand, I also know people that don't keep any of their games and sell everything that they finish.

When I moved to another apartment two years ago, I had a hard time loading and unloading tons and tons of heavy boxes of games and movies. It wasn't until I had to unpack and reorganize all that stuff on the shelves that I realized I really don't need all of these games taking up so much space. I ended up selling anything that I knew I would never play again or anything that I could replace with a digital copy on Steam for cheap. Anything that I couldn't sell or had little to no value, I just donated to Goodwill or gave away to friends. (Gamestop actually refused to take my 360 copy of Bulletstorm... even for free...)

I'm left with only the games I have yet to finish and my favorites. I'd say a little more than half of my shelves were emptied out.

How's everyone else's collection?

I'm holding on to what I have now, and being very careful about what I buy physically going forward. I've mostly converted to playing everything on PC anyway.

I recently ripped a lot of my PS2 games and sold them. I also sold a lot of my Gamecube games. I'd rather play everything on my computer. Usually, it's better than on a console. I'm not so materialistic that I'd keep games just to look at them. I care about the actual content.

Not exactly everything, but I keep most of them, I tend to sell all stuff that goes free on PS+ if it's not something I really want to keep a physical copy of (stuff like Battlefield 3 or Uncharted). Used to sell a lot of my stuff in earlier days, but I've come to regret most of those sales, a bunch of stuff I'd like to play again but which isn't available anywhere anymore, and I sold my complete copy of The Castlevania Adventure for like $1, and nowadays I see it for $90-100.

I'll trade stuff I don't care for and have zero intention of playing again towards something else on occasion. I still have games going back to the Playstation/64 (though I did sell most of those games ages ago), though.

I'll probably cull the collection a bit at some point for whatever reason. As for shelf space I tend to keep stuff that won't fit on my shelf but want to hang onto in boxes in my cupboard.

I very rarely get rid of anything anymore. Unless it's something I actively don't like and don't see myself ever playing again, I'll usually keep it. Destiny was the last game I traded in. When I was younger I would trade in large quantities of games to get some money. I kind of regret that now because I got rid of a lot of great games that I wish I still had. I got rid of a lot of awesome PS1 games, some of which are probably quite rare. That was stupid. Where the hell am I going to find a copy of Silhouette/Mirage for a decent price? I also used to have a massive PS2 collection, and I think I halved that collection in a single day many years ago. Granted, a lot of the games I sold I didn't care about at all, but, ya know, I like having a collection.

It's weird. I have like 90 or so X360 games sitting on a shelf, and that is my primary game collection that anyone who walks in the room will see right away. The shelf is almost full, but I don't really have to worry about filling it up because I doubt I will ever buy another 360 game, and what's more, I can't see myself hooking up my 360 and playing any of them in the near future. I like having all those games out there but I should really think about putting them away somewhere and moving my PS4 collection to that shelf. I probably won't do that, though.

Yes, of course I do. I am currently going through my old Amstrad CPC collection and registering what I have on Retrocollector.

I normally don't care enough to go through the effort of selling them, but I recently started to consider getting rid of a lot of my 360 games. Most of them are just taking up space.

Yes. It takes up lots of space to keep the games and their cases, though, so I am probably going to consolidate my games into one of those big cd wallets at some point. Though I've heard that those things can scratch your discs, so... I don't know.

I'm a hoarder. I always have difficulty getting rid of anything really, even stuff like old trainers that are practically falling apart.

I've kept all my physical games for a number of years now, but I mostly stopped buying physical games after the PS2 era, and when Steam became a thing

I still keep buying physical games, but in terms of storage I keep the paper cover, manuals and disk and throw away the hard case. The cover and manual go into a folder and the disk goes into my large disk wallet.

@dobedobedo: For the longest time I was doing the 'replace on Steam for cheap' thing as well.

I had a huge collection of 360 games, then my friend helped me upgrade my computer to a point where I was able to play the newest games at highest performance and so I looked at my 360 collection and realized the majority of them were also PC games and cheap so I traded/sold most of them and replaced the ones I still wanted for cheap on Steam.

At this point with the new generation of consoles though devs are kicking some games up a notch and my computer is falling behind again so I'm back to buying discs, but its a pretty slow burn and I really only have a handful of games for each system, usually just exclusives and stuff my PC can't run.

If it wasn't for exclusives this point I really wouldn't have a need for any physical games.

Ever since I sold my SNES and all of those games, which I immediately regretted afterwards, I've decided to keep everything game related that I own. It's tough finding space for it all (I've pulled a Jeff and just keep in plastic bins in a spare room). I've mostly moved over to PC these days so it isn't much of an issue anymore aside from the few console games I buy each year.

Traded them in once, never again. For one, what you get for older games is laughable. More importantly though, I like having my collection. It's not just games, it's memories.

No. I dumped a load of games I couldn't be bothered selling when the new consoles came out. I'll probably do the same with my current physical games. I don't like keeping things I know I'll never use again.

I keep anything I really enjoy and would like to play again at a later date but I have no qualms selling off games I don't like. If I quit the game out of frustration I will normally try it one more time, or if I struggle to complete a game I will sometimes try to play it a second time before I sell it. If it does not pass the play test, it's gone.

Nowadays I do, but growing up I didn't have the foresight for game collection, so my brother and I ended up selling/giving away our SNES and N64 games growing up.

I do, because I mainly play older games. Nothing beats holding the game directly in your hands. I only ever download games whenever there is a steam sale.

Yes, especially the games pre 2006 or so.

That being said I don't buy many games physically anymore unless it's something special.

I sold my original NES and all it's games when I was a kid, kind of wish I still had those games now, I haven't sold anything since.

I've definitely gotten rid of a lot of my games over the years, but when I do I usually end up picking up a cheap digital copy from PSN or Steam so I still have the games that I enjoyed.

I'm starting to feel like I have less of an attachment to my physical PS3/PS4 games because they are really only a box and disc nowadays anyway. So I just buy digital right away instead of bothering with physical. I still love physical games though, especially my PS2 collection.

I\m in the process of converting all my psp games to iso files on a hardrive. Once that is done I will sell all of them to collector friends. I have complete rom dumps for everything pre 64 on a hardrive and keep all my current gen physical disks in a cd binder. Being able to fit all my physical games in 3 binders is much preferred to me than having a giant wall of games that people have to look at when they come over. Keeping the games was never a "collection" thing but more of a sense of preserving my ability to play them. I don't need a collection on a shelf I just want to be able to play whatever game whenever I want it.

Considering how infrequently I return to games, I don't keep many games once I'm done with them. Even the games I like and know I might play again are up for trade-in/sale if I really want to get something else; after all, I can always buy a game again later. I have no attachment to physical media whatsoever and instead focus on being able to play, not own, as many games as possible.

When I was young I got rid of all my NES and SNES games, and consoles. That was a mistake, as I could have kept them and sold them.

Afterwards I gave my Gameboy Advance and its games.

And sold my Gamecube stuff.

And I sold my PS2 games, and I've thrown my PS2 console in the garbage as it borked.

Nowadays I've been selling the games I don't enjoy, or don't have any desire to play again, even if I loved them. I've sold Catherine, Nier, Dead Space 2, Remember Me, and I'm trying to sell Deux Ex Human Revolution Director's Cut, Red Dead Redemption, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.

And I'm planning to sell my Wii stuff.

For the moment I'm just saving the games I love and I have the desire to replay. The rest I'm selling, unless it is downloadable. Keeping the rest would be a waste of space and opportunities. Other people will enjoy it more than me.

I have all my PS1/PS2 stuff sitting in boxes but everything from that point on I've sold once done with it. Sure trade in prices aremt great but it's better than having them sitting on a shelf when I'll likely never play them again. For newer games that I'm done with within a month or two of release I've taken to selling them on eBay which has seen me get back around 70% of what I paid for it in the first place.

If i do get the sudden urge to replay something I've sold its generally old enough to be heavily discounted in either a physical store or the PSN store.

I keep any PC games I happen to get retail boxes of.
At the end of a console lifecycle I trade in or sell everything.

I have literally never gotten rid of a video game, dating all the way back to the NES.

The sentimental value of having them around 10 years from now to play for an hour when I'm digging through my closet or attic vastly outweighs the small amount of money I'd get for trading them in.
