No idea but I played a lot of SNES and Genesis as a kid.
Do you remember your first gaming experience?
Can't remember the first game I ever played, (might've been a NES game, or on one of the Atari systems, or might've been on Genesis, those were the systems we had when I was little) but I do remember the first game I wanted to play, the one that clicked, as you put it. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
i was like 3, stuck in the hospital dude to some bad respiratory disease (had to live ina bubble for awhile too, 100% recovered though). but in the childrens room where all the sick kids who were stuck in the hospital could play with toys and crap, there was an original donkey kong machine, i played the shit out of that thing.
I remember my dad playing Atari with me in the early 90's. It's one of my last memories of him. He committed suicide in 1995 when i was 4 years old. I don't know what we were playing, but it was probably pacman. I'd like to think that my gaming connection has something to do with that memory of him. I tried to plug that Atari in about 6 or 7 years later and it literally electrocuted me. Don't know what happened to that Atari after that.
I was around 2 -3 years old when I got both a sega genesis and super nintendo. The first game I played was super mario followed by sonic the hedghog.
Pacman. The story goes that my mother played a ton of it when she was pregnant with me. When I was of the age of being able to work a joystick she introduced me to the Pacman.
I still get a warm feeling when I hear the opening jingle.
The furthest back I can remember is Star Fox 64.
I know that game like the ugly, possibly cancerous mole on my left arm. I loved that series.
But then, of course, the fanbase completely killed itself with the invasion of Furrys and lame Fanfiction writers.
I have since harbored a grudge against that stupid blue wolf girl from SF:Adventures. I hope when the time comes for Nintendo to dust off the series for an all-new original game, Krystal is nowhere to be found.
My first gaming experience would have been with a board game, but I remember a friend from school showing me his home pong console. It must have been '80 or '81. It blew my mind seeing us control what was on the TV screen.
Later that year I was introduced to an Atari 2600 that a friend of my brother owned. I would go over when he wanted to visit them and would sit in their basement playing it while they played sports in the yard and swam in his pool.
My Aunt and Uncle also started an arcade around the same time, but I think it was only open for a year or two. My memory of it is sort of vague. Up until they got a Time-Out arcade a few years later at a mall about 20 miles away, the only games I remember having access to were a Zaxxon machine a a local burger place and a Tempest one at the movie theater in a neighboring city.
I didn't have a console of my own until I got a used NES in about '87 or '88.
i have a stronger memory of the first time i truly lost myself in a game - Tomb Raider, we had no memory card, so each death meant starting again from scratch, but we did have lots of weed, so, high as a monkey, i became engrossed in the atmosphere, and expert at making lara's action smooth and fluid and exact. still searching for that high.
I think it was Pitfall or Penguin Adventure or something on the MSX.
Can´t really remember which game it was on the MSX ......i know i played it with a joystick with a big red button on it, and i was like 4/5 year's old.
Duck Hunt at my brother's friend's house when I was around three years old. That Christmas we got an SNES with Super Mario World. The rest is history...
Mine would have to be Pokemon Yellow for the Gameboy Color. I got it as a gift from my Dad when I had the fever and it rocked! I was 7 when I got it.
I remember watching my sister play Super Mario World and wanting to play but she would never let me for the longest time. Eventually, I snuck into her room while she was out with friends and that was my first gaming experience.
1984.
I was 6 years old, and my dad brought home a Commodore 64 and the game Beach Head. I was so excited I snuck out of bed and watched him play while I hid in the hallway.
Been a gamer ever since.
Probably Tarzan on the PS1 I remember my and my cousin played it at a similar time and my brother, my dad and I got really into it and we would call up my cousin and his dad and compare where we were and how we got past certain parts. It was great fun and my first real gaming experience I can remember. I couldn't have been more than 5 but that was probably my first gaming experience .
I played handhelds in the early 80s and my first game system was ColecoVision. There was a James Bond game that I enjoyed quite a bit. The moment when it 'clicked' for me was probably the same as many other gamers of my age --when the original NES was released.
My momma helping me play the legend of zelda on NES. She knew which grave stone the best sword was under and how to beat Gannon. What a cool lady. We actually just hooked up the Nintendo and played Mario, zelda and Simons quest when I was at her place a few weeks ago. It's awesome to have relatively young parents.
