My dad plays Madden with me and he's into Metal Gear Solid and other sports games like Tiger Woods PGA Tour and Wii Sports.
My mom likes Tetris, thats it.
How bout you guys?
Do your parents play videogames?
"When I was younger my dad loved Blackthorne and Super Metroid for the SNES. He used to play all the WW2 shooters, but now he doesn't play anything. My mom claims to like all the coin-op classics, yet I've never ever seen her play any game, ever."my dad hates WW2 shooters because his dad was in the war and it sucked. I play the hell out of em and can't get enough of em.
My mom used to play a lot of video games. In fact, when I got a SNES for my 3rd birthday I rarely got a chance to play on it myself because my mom was always hogging it. :P (or so I've heard, since I was too young back then to actually remember.) We also used to play together on the PS1, but when I got a PS2 I was allowed to keep it in my own room and we stopped playing video games together. I think the last game we played together was the first Harry Potter on the PS1. Now all she plays is casual stuff like Bejeweled.
As for my dad... Well, we went to an arcade together once, and he was better at lightgun shooters than me. That's all I know about him.
My father started me on video games. We always used to play Doom, Duke Nukem, Quake, etc. together after we got our first PC. We then moved on to RTS games along with shooters, mainly the Command and Conquer series. He doesn't game much anymore (he didn't have the reaction time to keep up with the shooters he loved after 43 or so) but he still enjoys watching me play.
My mom beat the original Castlevania, while I can't get past the damn mummies. Anything in 3D, though, she passes out. Except Wii Sports.
My dad is the most meticulous gamer ever. Any game he plays, he clocks 100+ hours into. Such games are Chessmaster, The Sims, Civilization, Romance of the Three Kingdoms 9, and, more recently, MLB Power Pros. I think he's contemplating stealing my Wii.
My father before he died had a Atari 2600 and thats how I got into gaming. I vaguely remember playing games and stuff with him. My step dad loves flight sims of pretty much any discription and plays them a fair bit, he does play other stuff but not very often. My mum never plays. I do remember her having a go of Cosmos Cosmic Adventure once when my sister was playing.
My mom gets really motion sick from watchng me play games, but my Dad loves tactic games like Ghost recon, and anything with the Jane's publishing logo on it. He used to play 688 attack Sub with other former submariners via null modem at his job at a nuke plant, way the fuck back in the day. So yeha, he's actually been playing longer than me.
My step dad loves burnout and GTA, and oddly, hunting games.
My whole family played Doom/ Doom 2 a LOT. I also played Wolfenstein, Quake 1/2, Unreal and shit load of point and click adventure games with my dad. My mum plays more games nowadays however. One of her favourite games is Resident Evil 4, for her, blowing heads off zombies just never gets old.
