So I pre-ordered Yakuza Kiwami on Amazon and have amazon prime and noticed that it is arriving on Thursday instead of tomorrow on release day. I check other games to see if it was just Yakuza and found that the games that I checked, they had two day shipping and not release day shipping.

Anyone else find the same thing now with amazon or is it just me? Thanks!

The same thing happened to me. I get every other new game from Amazon on release day, Mario x Rabbids is scheduled to be here tomorrow, so I'm not sure what the deal is.

My preorder of Kiwami is due to be delivered to me by release day before 8pm. Not sure why yours got jacked.

Yeah I checked other games in the future to see if they have release day delivery as an option but they only give me two day for some reason now. I use to always get release day too...

I ordered Mario+Rabbids this morning and also didn't get a release day option. Could be related to how far ahead of release day you get the order in or how much stock they happen to have in your area.

Amazon seems pretty shitty for games tbh, they also are finicky with the 20% on pre-orders and sometimes just out right don't have physical copies until after release.

Amazon seems to have gotten really inconsistent over the past year or so with their release date delivery. It might be just with relatively more niche games though since I never hear about issues with big releases.

@frytup: For what it's worth, I pre-ordered Mario + Rabbids shortly after it was first available, and I still never got more than the option for delivery on Thursday.

It seems incredibly hit or miss lately. I've been considering switching to Best Buy's game membership and just buying from them instead for the cheap pre-orders. Sonic Mania came 2 days late, Madden 18 was released last Friday and it wasn't going to get here until Wednesday so I cancelled the order but Yakuza is due to arrive on time tomorrow.

Actually Amazon used to be pretty good. But I have checked lately just out of pure curiosity, and they just don't do things the same anymore as far a video games go.

So to be honest I basically never get the game on release day, but I usually preorder only a couple days prior. It seems the more lead time you give the higher your chances are. I preordered two games ~3 weeks ago, one was Uncharted, the other Kiwami. Kiwami got release day, but Uncharted didn't. It was still 4-5 days before Uncharted was supposed to release though.

EDIT: Uncharted I preordered exactly a week before release.

One time they sent me Dark Souls 1 three days after release day. I did a text chat with customer support telling them I order it to get the release day shipping and told them what is the point of buying from Amazon when I can go to the store and get the game on release day instead. They apologized and gave me a $20 gift card. So complaining might be worth a try!

Sometimes if you pre order something too late they can't guarantee they can get it to you in time, they are just really bad at communicating that, so that also could be the reason. But when you were ordering it if it said your delivery date was tomorrow with prime shipping, I'd definitely complain.

Didn't they also remove the 2 week period for the 20% off? Now you have to pre-order. On the Canadian site they just straight up dropped it down to a 10% discount. Doesn't even cover taxes. I don't know why I even have Prime any more.

Sometimes it just happens like that, other times you get it early. I got Kiwami today, I received Gears 4 almost a week early, depending where you live mail just might get hung up somewhere in the chain.

I guess you're suffering for my benefit. I got kiwami 4 days ago, don't even have prime. I was really surprised, I'd preordered it months ago and genuinely forgot it was about to come out!

I had a period of about a year where I received stuff a day early because they estimated it wrong, and then it stopped and now sometimes I get it a day late and it's been pretty annoying because the temptation to just buy the digital version and play at midnight is a real thing for some games.

Weird, I've gotten my games release date evening without fail, though never earlier, and it has pretty much always been that way. Kiwami should be here tommorow unless the mail is disrupted by the hurricane around here!

I've had this problem before a bunch of times when dealing with Amazon even when preordering months in advance. Sometimes they will change your delivery date for seemingly no reason and then not tell you because fuck it.

Mine said Thursday for the steelbook and I just got a notification that i'll have it delivered Tuesday. Maybe they weren't sure on how many they'd get. I've never had an amazon preorder not show up on time. Normally ships about 16 hours before I receive it. They're the best for me (besides just walking into a GameStop on release date). Not a single hiccup over several years of using them for games.

I've pre-ordered two games from them this year. Mass Effect and Persona. ME got here late if I remember correctly, but Persona got here on release day. And, I do not have Amazon Prime.

I think two day shipping is supposed to be release day delivery. I don't remember where it was when I placed my orders, but it said something like, "To receive on release day choose two day shipping."

Hah! Timely thread. I pre-ordered a physical copy of the Mario+Rabbids game, and it seems I won't get getting it until two days after release. Amazon used to be really good about getting stuff to you on release day, but I found that stopped being the case (for me at least) a few years back (late in the 360/PS3 era). And then I happened to go back to PC primary platform, so it was all digital purchasing anyway. It is somewhat 'sweet and sour' though, because while I didn't get Mario+Rabbids on release day, I did get it for a price that is fully 20 GBP less than the e-shop price.

There is no release date shipping option on pre-orders from what I've recently seen. You choose two-day shipping at checkout, and it's up to chance whether or not the game arrives on its launch date.

I preordered Mario + Rabbids on Sunday (Sept 27th) and still got it on Tuesday (Sept 29th).

The thing that is most upsetting for me is that now Amazon Canada games preorders are only 10% off

I have Prime and pre ordered Splatoon 2, and Mario + Rabbids and neither arrived on launch day.

I called the day of Splatoon 2, and they offered me the digital version for the discounted price. They were actually listed as out of stock for the physical version, and I didn't even see when they would actually ship it out, so I took them up on the digital.

I've got plenty of new and older titles to play, so I don't mind waiting a couple of days. I'll take the day one discount on a game (Especially a Nintendo product) over a garunteed day one delivery.

If it takes a few days, it might be a difficult wait for Mario Odyssey though...

I don't know if fulfillment is tied to how long prior to release you preorder the game, but the previous two games I preordered on Amazon (Persona 5 & Mario + Rabbids) were ordered a month plus in advance and I got them on release day.

They haven't called it release day shipping in a long time but always label the free two-day with "Get it the day it's released!" or something.

I still got Yakuza on time although a friend of mine who ordered way earlier than I did not.

My copy of Mario + Rabbids shipped yesterday and arrived today, a day earlier then listed.

I know it's a hot topic, but one reason I like physical versions is because If I had a hard copy, I might consider trading in Splatoon 2 for $36 (I just checked trade in values) so I could play XCOM War of The Chosen.

My copy of Kiwami arrived on release day, and my white PS4 Pro has a release day delivery scheduled. My experience hasn't been perfect, my LE Persona 5 order was delayed due to a payment issue when it was paid with Amazon gift cards. But other than that, I've been pretty happy with Amazon.
