My old xbox broke down again (this is the fourth time) and since I bought it used, I got another used machine. The problem is that when I try to go on to xbox live it says that "the family settings prevents you from signing on to xbox live" and since I don´t know the password I can´t change it. Is there some way to override this?

If you've forgotten the answer to your pass-code reset question as well as your pass code, please call Xbox Customer Support at 1-800-4-MY-XBOX (1-800-469-9269).

If you've forgotten your Xbox LIVE pass code, please call Xbox Customer Support at 1-800-4-MY-XBOX (1-800-469-9269).

From the xbox site, looks like youre stuck unless you want to ring them.

Where did you buy a used console and why wouldn't they have removed the account or told you the password when you bought it?

Well the thing is, I didn´t enter the password, the previous owner did, since the machine is used.

Yeah, but its all the same to the guy on the other end of the phone, you cant remember your code just like everyone else. Im assuming theyll just ask for a serial number or something. I cant think of what else they would want.

Edit: And all of the shops around here would accept that machine back for an exchange no questions asked. The big retailers offer a 12 month warranty on pre-owned goods.

I bought it at Gamestop ( called EB-games over here in Sweden) and I don´t think they know the password, only the previous owner does...which is frustrating as hell...

Oh yeah that makes sense, I´ll just have to wait until tomorrow to make the call.

Well that is ridiculous. It should have been their responsibility to get the password from the previous owner before they sold it to anyone. Another -1 for GameStop!
