I have played several episode type games, such as the ones TellTale makes like The Walking Dead and Jurassic Park. And also other games like Alone In The Dark, which was a bad game but i did enjoy how each chapter was an episode and at the end they tried to get you pumped for what the next chapter is going to be. Some games do this better than others, and I wanted to see what others favorite episode style game was, and why.

Mine is The Walking Dead, since each episode keeps me wanting more and keeps me engaged throughout each episode.

I don't think I've ever played an episodic title, but The Walking Dead interests me, so I might pick that up eventually. The Half-Life 2 episodes don't count, right?

I missed out on one of the DLC for Alan Wake but that was a good one.

@Intelligent_Space_Man: Totally agree with you there. Though it wasn't 'episodic' in it's release, Alan Wake was episodic in structure. The episodes divided into neat 1-2 hour chunks (much like watching an hour long drama) which were given nice intro and outro scenes to bookend them. This made it easy to sit down with the game, play an episode and leave it at there given that you would be given a refresher next time.

That always felt like a good structure to me, especially since so many people have gotten used to spending an hour every now and then with the tv box set of their choice so playing a game like that seems like a natural progression. Basically I'm saying video games should be more like Mad Men.

Oh, that reminds me that the cases in L.A Noire fit that mould, although some were probably a bit too long to fit the analogy.

@davo: I wouldn't count the Half-life 2 episodes. That's just a way of saying DLC

@Intelligent_Space_Man: I loved the use of licensed music in that game. I didn't mean that there were previews for the next chapter, but there was always a crazy cliffhanger to leave you wanting more.

Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People. Still my favorite Telltale game.
