Favorite Video Game Music?

What's yours?

For me, nothing hits home like the original BF 1942 theme. I probably poured more hours into that game than almost anything else.

Also, check out this site which has a huge archive of video game music. Listening to some of them brought back some pretty intense nostalgia for me!

As much as I love the Assassin's Creed 2 soundtrack I always have to give 1st to almost all the Ys games. Just too damn good!

This is the opening for Ys II for the PC.

Don't know if it's my favourite ever but always loved the music in Onimusha.

While I'm at it here's that amazing opening, though not in the original Japanese unfortunately.

I made a list of some of my favourite soundtracks, out of those the Bastion soundtrack by Darren Korb and the Sword & Sworcery soundtrack by Jim Guthrie are just fantastic.

Witcher 2, holy shit such quality!
 
The peaceful songs are melodic and soothing while the battle music is fucking intense.

I really like the songs from the Earrthbound/ Mother 3. Give These a listen:

God DAMN do I love me some EarthBound and its music.

Though I have to say that Bastion has my all time favorite soundtrack. That sort of folky/electronicy mellow jam ness, and then absolute solid, beautiful vocals mixed in in such a way where you want more.

Its just random songs I like from different games.

In a desert island scenario where you could pick only only one game's soundtrack to listen to I'd probably still pick Mega man 2. That stuff still sticks in memory more than other game, and if Still like it this many years later, chances are I'm probably always going to.

The Mods and Admins need to allow 1 thread of these types to exist or this YouTube spam will keep coming up ever 2 weeks or so. Why don't you Mods or Admins sticky a thread and just leave it? Then these threads would not keep popping up like a weed, constantly.

Just a friendly suggestion that's all :) It will cut down on spam and make everyone happy.

With that said I did make a top 100 list and a top 20 FF/Nobuo list. Here are my top 120 VG music of all time. Some more recent games like Deus Ex:HR and Skyrim would've made the list.

The Hitman soundtracks would have to be my collective favorites. That MP3 soundtrack is pretty close, though.

My absolute fave tracks from last years released games. Deus Ex: HR is effing amazing. Best ambient stealth music I've ever heard in a game. And how the hell have you guys gone this long with no damn Skyrim music? Fail.

Honestly, I'd like to post a bunch of examples and talk about them because I love a lot of video game music but I'll wait to see if this gets closed right away. It sounds like a jerk move but I don't want to post a bunch of stuff and then not be able to talk about it because the thread gets shut down right away.
