What was the first game with truly good destrucutible cover?
First game with destructible cover?
No game can really say that..I guess Killzone 2 might come close enough to accomplishing that though.
i was think Bad Company, but i didnt want to skip out on something, kinda like Gears and the Kill.Switch cover system, but i finally got my destructible cover concept page approved ;)
"Yeah, Some things before that even were destructible.well ya theres all that but i meant truly destructible cover, not like all of those, off topic but i want new full spectrum warrior now! i would even settle for a SOCOM Tactical Strike, since they were pretty similar
I remember pretty clearly that GRAW 1 had destructible cover, so that's the earlier that I'm sure. However I think Kill.Switch had it and maybe Full Spectrum Warrior.
"
"I thought we were only including games where there was an actual cover mechanic, not just games where you could take cover behind something that would eventually break.oh sorry, i should have clarified, please take your knowledge of destructible things over to the destructible cover page in concepts that i just made, since i dont intend to edit it any
"
"It's too much of a gray area to say.
"
I agree. I really dont consider BFBC to be a true destructible cover, as in the "first". Because really its just blowing a wall into dust. A touches B = A disappears; not destructible really..
No one's said Company of Heroes? A good set of explosions.. or just an angry tank could mess up any heavy cover you've set up or made use of. Sure, it's not a shooter, but cover was a very important aspect of CoH.
And of course, tanks and vehicles can all be used as cover once they've been destroyed.
I'd say CoH was one of the first games where I was really paying attention to how much cover I (IE: my units) had.
