No game can really say that..I guess Killzone 2 might come close enough to accomplishing that though.

If not this, or Gears of War 2, maybe Killzone 2. Wait, Gears of War 1 had some destructible cover. Like sofas, and dressers. Not everything, but some stuff.

Yeah, Some things before that even were destructible.

I remember pretty clearly that GRAW 1 had destructible cover, so that's the earlier that I'm sure. However I think Kill.Switch had it and maybe Full Spectrum Warrior.

Red Faction used Geo Mod technology to make actual holes in the mesh of any terrain object. You could blow open a wall or dig a tunnel with rockets, really cool! I think it is the farthest games have gotten when it comes to destructible terrain.

well ya theres all that but i meant truly destructible cover, not like all of those, off topic but i want new full spectrum warrior now! i would even settle for a SOCOM Tactical Strike, since they were pretty similar

I thought we were only including games where there was an actual cover mechanic, not just games where you could take cover behind something that would eventually break.

In Uncharted, if you hid behind less stable cover like a brick wall, it would deteriorate.

I agree. I really dont consider BFBC to be a true destructible cover, as in the "first". Because really its just blowing a wall into dust. A touches B = A disappears; not destructible really..

No one's said Company of Heroes? A good set of explosions.. or just an angry tank could mess up any heavy cover you've set up or made use of. Sure, it's not a shooter, but cover was a very important aspect of CoH.

And of course, tanks and vehicles can all be used as cover once they've been destroyed.

I'd say CoH was one of the first games where I was really paying attention to how much cover I (IE: my units) had.

Stranglehold? I don't know, there's probably some older games with some very basic versions of destructible cover.

Lmao, good one.

Now that we are done listing what games DO have it, what recent games dont?

Call of Duty 4 much? They must of been thinking along the lines of 'Who needs destructible cover when you can shoot through walls!'
