" Dude, Charmander. Why pick pokemon that both evolve into tanks when you can sweep fools? Best Defense = Good Offense. Also, that was before Fire Starters got lame and started practicing karate. Stupid Blaziken. "That fighting type is the only thing keeping fire starters from totally getting tooled by stealth rocks.
For those of us who played either the original Pokemon games (Blue, Red, Yellow, or Green versions) or the remakes (Fire Red and Leaf Green), which Pokemon did you choose to take from Professor Oak??
" @ArbitraryWater said:But at that point, you are already rocking Marshtomp or like... Torterra. Because you were frightened away by Blaziken and Monferno. Also, the solution to that (a move that clearly only matters in a competitive setting) is to nerf the hell out of Stealth Rocks and not make it a TM. Why can't we all just be using Poison Spikes? Two layers of those and everyone is badly poisoned." Dude, Charmander. Why pick pokemon that both evolve into tanks when you can sweep fools? Best Defense = Good Offense. " @neoepoch said:Oh yeah, that is what they did. They made Stealth Rocks not a TM, thank goodness. But you can still take Pokes that have Stealth Rocks in Gen 4 and transfer them to Gen 5. The thing with that tho, is that those pokes can't get dream world abilities. I use poison spikes, but Flying and Steel don't get affected. And Poison types actually absorb the Toxic spikes away. I prefer regular Spikes." @ArbitraryWater said:But at that point, you are already rocking Marshtomp or like... Torterra. Because you were frightened away by Blaziken and Monferno. " Sqirtle is the shit! I always go for the water type starter pokemon. "How did you know that when you were playing the first game in the series?
Charmander, because he turns into Charizard, who was and probably still is my favorite Pokemon and is a FUCKING DRAGON.
They always seem to fit that role, Grass for beginners, Water is more intermediate, Fire is the hardest starting out but comes into it's own after a few bumps. At least thats how I remember it, I'm sure theres a game that will probably be used to pick holes in this theory." If you want to go the smart way you would go Bulbusuar. Just because he kicks the first 2 gyms ass. If you want to go the bad ass way then pick up Charmander. "
If you want to talk about the fire starters, Chimchar is the best, Infernape becomes an absolute beast capable of winning the Pokemon League by itself
" Charmander is awesome therefore I chose Charmander. "is there any other choice?
I want my Fucking Charizard Now!
" Charmander, since he turns into a goddamn dragon. Granted, you have to go through the phase where you resist making "Charma-charma-charma-charma-charma-charmeleon" jokes before you get to the dragon..."You maybe, but I stand by my making Charma-charma-charmeleon jokes.
" @Tearhead said:If you look at how every Pokemon game is structured, water types starters are the best choice in my opinion. The first gym is rock, which is a breeze for water types, and from there you can catch other Pokemon to deal with their weaknesses (grass, etc). I knew a good deal about the how the game was played before I actually played through it myself. Also... Blastoise has FUCKING CANNONS IN HIS BACK!" Sqirtle is the shit! I have, in multiple playthroughs but 500 hours into the original games, and every single fucking time I went with Charmander! I got that shit down so well I could beat the first 3 gym leaders with three pokemon. ( Charmander, Nidoran and Manky)
I played through those so many times that I chose all of them at least 5 times.
Charizard's statistically the best though.
