Am I too early or are the guys not doing podcasts for 2020 game of the year?
Game of the Year 2020??
@chaser324: Can someone with staff/mod privileges write an article visible on the homepage and/or pin an announcement to the top of the forums about GotY occurring in January, because it seems people are not getting the memo on this.
I know it’s been in the Community Spotlight but clearly some users just blitz right past that.
@bisonhero: I'll mention it to Rorie. You're right that some people are probably going to be confused over the next couple of weeks when nothing GOTY related gets posted (regardless of how many times it's mentioned).
@chaser324: Yeah, especially when the "This day in GB History" is entirely GOTY 2014, 2016, 2019, etc....
@bladeblur: Think of it this way. 2020 was a wash of a year anyway. But 2021 is going to start AND end with GB GOTY, making it the best year evar!!!!!!!!1111
@bigsocrates: fair. But I kind of wish we had dates. Also, not sure how the deliberations are even going to work now with covid and how willing they are to do longer calls since they are not forced into an office lol
@papadopus: Don't know but they'll probably mention something on the Bombcast tomorrow. Probably later half of the month if I had to guess.
@papadopus said:
Beginning/Middle/or End of January?
They said middle/end on a podcast or a stream somewhere. No firm date yet though.

Thank you! Really wish they were more clear on their communication here with their dates, but I imagine it must be extra difficult this year.
GOY stuff is arguably the most popular and keeps me entertained during the end of the year. I am disappointment we missed out in December. But I understand 2020 was difficult. With that said, I would appreciate more clear info so I can decide whether to stick around or not. 'They said middle/end on a podcast or a stream somewhere' is rather frustrating. Honestly, content has been minimal lately and I have been losing interesest. Making this info easy to find might keep me checking back more often. But what do I know? I am just a paying/premium subscriber, don't bother listening to my opinion.
@docrotten: Just announced during the bombcast, it'll be live during the week of the 18th.
At least while waiting for GB's GOTY there's the somewhat adjacent Waypoint Radio's Games of 2020 pod
and Dan, Mike & Mary's GOTY 7 hour deliberations.
Would add Game Informer Show's Looking Back at 2020 show and MinnMax's Awards + Top 20:

Starting to think they may have been better off doing GOTY as just a plain 2 hour Giant Bombcast this year instead of putting it off. Kind of feels deflated now. Ready to move the heck on from 2020 now.

Thanks for the link! This show looks legit can't wait to listen.
And I agree with your sentiments on the timing of GOTY for 2020. Feels a little anticlimactic to have it in January.
@finaldasa: Thanks!
@papadopus: It may be anticlimactic, but I'll still take any amount of these chucklefucks discussing GOTY nonsense at any point in time. It's my podcast comfort food—every year I make it a tradition of going back and listening to the final days of each of the GOTY podcasts not because of the outcomes but because I just enjoy the banter and conversations that emerge. Even the most infuriating back-and-forths are still somehow more of a comfort than almost any other podcast I listen to.
Also, and this might be a minority opinion, but given how screwed up this December was, and how isolating, I'm kinda glad for the delay—there's no way I would have been in a good-enough headspace then to enjoy the deliberations. This way, it feels almost like a late Christmas gift.
Doom Eternal
