What games did you, at some point, refuse to continue playing? Could it be because the game was hard, the game was bad, or that you were physically unable to finish it? I'll start by suggesting Landstalker, as I reached a point near the end of the game where I was unable to proceed further through anything I could do within the game.
Games you just gave up on
" Far Cry 2 Lota cool thing in that game, but it got so fucking boring. "this.
Soldier of Fortune: Payback .... very bad game
Prototype ... frustratingly difficult
The first Metroid Prime unfortunately, and it wasn't even the last boss, it was the Elite Pirate (I think that's that name of it). I took a break and then came back to it a few weeks later, but my absence from playing resulted in my forgetting how to switch between beams. I still love that game even with the godawful backtracking.
have not finished sonic unleashed (at final boss...) it just seems like too much effort with very little payoff
there were loads on the NES though, Mission impossible being the one I just couldnt ever figure but just kept going back to it
" Far Cry 2 Lota cool thing in that game, but it got so fucking boring. "I agree, I like Ubisoft Montreal, but I think they fucked up with that game. I would have to say Killzone 2, I didn't have fun with it.
Golden Axe on the Xbox 360, I try to like it but it comes off a bit stale for me. I will probably get to the end of it but its going to be a on again and off again type of game for me.
Far Cry 2. I played it for 4 or 5 hours and had enough. I just wasn't having any fun playing it.
This is unusual for me too. I think people critique games to much these days so I try to be less harsh and let a few flaws slide as long as I'm having fun. I always finish games too. I can't remember more than a few games in my life that I started and haven't beaten.
GTA IV (felt very stale and rigid compared to past installments), Far Cry 2, Metroid Prime (left the game for a few days because I couldent figure out how to progress and when I returned I had forgotten even more about how to progress), Assasins Creed (got repetative and the movement was way too smooth so going between objectives was a dull experience), Final Fantasy VII (the characters bored me and "story" didnt appeal to me at all). All of the Metal Gear games except MGS4, I loved the idea of playing an action movie (which MGS4 nails for me) but I cant play stealth games so it was a frustrating and pointless experience.
There are many many more I cant think of.
Star Craft brood war for the pc. to slay the beast was the hardest mission in the history of games for me. i tried to follow advice on it, no tips really worked. i tried so hard to complete that mission. had a million different save file in hope that maybe one of them was going to be the one to beat the mission. i build it up, they find SOME way to TAKE IT ALL AWAY, oh the HUMANITY!!!
Try Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor, a game where you're expected to beat bosses with a billion HP/immunity to everything, and when you've eliminated half that HP, the entire strength of Hell comes to summon Game Over as quickly as possible.
" @jakob187 said:Have you played Hardcore mode online yet? LOTS more experience going around nowadays..." Solomon's Key, Ghosts 'n' Goblins, and Battletoads. How recently? I only played it a few months ago "
@expletive said:" Far Cry 2 "You should try it out again. They've done a lot of patching. Much better game now. "
I would seriously suggest that folks go back and play Far Cry 2 again.
Metal Gear Solid 3. I love the other games, but I just couldn't play it. It was just... not good.
Half-Life 2. (Shoot me why don't you). Hopefully the Game Club that Rebel FM is doing starting next week will help me get through it.
Assassin's Creed. I couldn't fucking figure out what to do, and I felt no desire to try to figure out using the internetz.
The consensus so far is people playing good games but being impatient assholes or playing bad games and justifiably not playing them anymore. All the reasons given so far are just insults to the game. There are a few who give more reasonable...reasons.
Street Fighter IV for me. Goddamnit that game is never meant to even come near a newcomer. It's not really the difficutly but the double standard it has. Everything surrounding the game wants you to get into it as a new player but the game itself doesn't do anything to help. Played about an hour or two and said fuck this jazz. To anyone who already plays SF, I'm pretty sure it's a great game.

"Yeah Half-Life 2 was boring, but episode 2 was good, just play that if you want a fun half life 2 experience :P
Metroid Prime, Elder Scrolls: Morrowind, Civilization 4, STALKER
None of these games are really bad. I just lost interest. Civ4 had me sleeping at my computer every time I started playing.
Yeah, two ps3 exclusives, half way though uncharted I determined it wasn't worth playing. I bought it right away, however I didn't finish it yet. Also killzone 2, I am right at the last boss fighting the last boss himself and I kept getting knifed in the back by him. I figured it wasn't worth playing either.
Before last gen I gave up on devil may cry 3, not because the game was difficult, however there was a puzzle where it had a bunch of these floating platforms, I couldn't find that information in a guide or any youtube videos, I decided it wasn't worth playing anymore because of it.
I've given up on way more games I've actually finished, there's too many to count. Usually I don't "give up" on them, I just start playing other shit and realize I haven't touched the other one for months, then I tell myself I'll eventually get around to it, and never actually do.
But I gave up on Far Cry II, got to the second map and just went "so it's everything all over again, huh? count me out".
I did finish Assassin's Creed, it's not worth it, the ending is bullshit.
Most recently with reason in captions: Assassin's Creed (too boring), Dead Space (too difficult), Halo 3 (didn't like mp or sp), H.A.W.X. (dumbshit story), Company of Heroes (sick of WW2 setting, I guess), Section 8 (no one playing!), Civ 4 (time constraints), SFIIHDRMX (I was rubbish)
I actually loved Far Cry 2. Finished the whole thing, got all the diamonds and guns. Watched Keifer Sutherland blow himself to bits.
