Poll Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions or Resogun? (33 votes)

Geometry Wars 3 85%
Resogun 30%

Before I purchased my PS4 this past summer, I was hearing quite a bit about Resogun. I was hearing it was not only one of the best games yet available on the console, but quite a looker as well. At a glance it looked like Defender and right or wrong, I failed to pursue it.

But now Resogun is several days past its first birthday, and Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions is out. In the absence of Luftrausers on the PS4, I could probably really use a game in the vein of the aforementioned two, and while Resogun seems to be the more higher regarded of the two, I think Geometry Wars is a rather handsome game too, and since I chose a PS3 the last time around, I regretfully missed out on the other Geometry Wars games.

With that, help me make a decision duders!

I can't speak for Geometry Wars yet, but Resogun is a lot of fun.

However, longevity depends on your desire to pursue trophies. Geometry Wars seems to have a more robust "campaign" mode, and the core gameplay looks as fun as it's ever been.

Resogun is super fun, especially when you start flinging humans across the map. Geometry Wars has always been fun too, and I doubt the new one is any different (though I'm not all that into the shapes as boards).

Why not both?

I don't know anything about Resogun but Geometry Wars 3 offers a lot of content. 50 level main campaign, 10 level multiplayer local co op campaign, 2 online competitive modes, 5 "classic" modes from the previous game, 1 bonus level if you defeated the final boss and 2 platform specific levels if you pre ordered.

The 3D levels in general are pretty good but I don't really like the levels with "hard corners" (like cube shaped levels) because you can bump into enemies pretty easily. Fortunately I've only encountered 3 in the ~30 levels I've played thusfar.

It has Trials-like progression where you need to collect x amount of stars to progress. Every ten levels there is a bossfight and you need x amount of stars to fight that boss.

The game is also pretty challenging right off the bat!

I actually didn't think Resogun was that good. It was something to play when I got my PS4, but that's about it.

Resogun was a great launch game and I highly recommend it but Geometry Wars is awesome and if you haven't played the previous ones you are in for a treat.

Resogun seemed like a good launch game to fill in a slot but everything I've read suggests that Geometry Wars 3 has a lot more to it. I'd go with the latter.

Resoguns major flaw is lack of content, but the content that's there is superb. I wasn't particularly into the first expansion but the base game got it's hooks into me hard and fast. I believe it's currently on sale as well, so there's that. I haven't spent as much time with Geometry Wars, but there seems to be a lot more to do, and the progression stuff really helps elevate it. For my money Resogun looks and plays much better, but unless you're into replaying levels at different difficulties, you'll burn through it fast. Geometry Wars has a much more robust content offering, but I'd still lean towards Resogun if I had to choose.

I'm hooked into anything that Housemarque makes, and seeing their Super Stardust legacy it's interesting you pit both developers against each other since they are both inspired by each other. I'd say Resogun but ultimately I'd get both...why should you ever have to choose? The OST of Resogun probably puts it above Geometry Wars.

I'd say that GW3 is not only better than Resogun in terms of gameplay, but there is way more content in GW3. Not that Resogun isn't fun, but I find GW to be more immediately satisfying, especially when it comes to score chasing. I have been meaning to check out that Resogun DLC, though.

If you had to choose and simply couldn't get both, I'd surely say GW3.

Geometry Wars 3, for sure. There is so much content, and huge amount of replayability, and it plays amazingly well. The dimensions will take a bit of getting used to, as for the reasons mentioned on the bombcast, but once you get the hang of switching surfaces it becomes really fun.

Resogun is a fine game, but its old news and most people who would of had an interest in it own it already. So I'm gonna say Geometry Wars 3 for sure. I also just prefer it due to playing so much of those games in the past.
