GiantBomb Android Application [ALPHA]

I don't have an Android but this work is really appreciated. Great job man!! I am glad Jeff helped you out with this because you are basically helping the site a lot with this. I applaud your efforts.

I just downloaded this on my Motorola Droid. 
 
 This morning I successfully watched the current QOTW, at home, over Wi-Fi.   I then also watched I Love Mondays, on the subway heading to work, over 3G. 
 
I'd say this is a success, good job, and thank you very much! :) 

You have no idea how awesome you are, harris. I don't even have an android and I can tell you that.
 
Who else thought that this was a place where robots can chat among themselves?

I think someone should sticky this for this guy, just so people can find it and give feedback, it's alot of work he's doing for free here.

If you know java pretty well, you can get into it very easily. Android has great developer resources on their site:  http://developer.android.com/guide/index.html  You should learn java before jumping into that, though. Java is very easy to learn if you already know C++, by the way.  It's also very helpful to have a little experience in XML, a lot of interface stuff in android is XML based. "

One question - When you release this fully (i.e. not alpha) will you be charging for it? and who gets the fees - you or GB or a split? Or is this too far into the future?

Sorry that I've been MIA.  Monday and Tuesday are my days off work - aka achievement whoring time (and today was a good day for achievements).  Either way, I'll be getting back on with the testing on this app when the updates come out. 
 
Also, I totally think we should get this stickied for a little bit of time, just so we can get GB EVERYWHERE!

I talked to Harris last night and provided him with some code that I used to create my list layout, if he decides to use it the video list will probably look something like this:

It would be nice if the .apk's were uploaded so I could try them out on the emulator as I don't currently have an android phone. 
But whatever.

EDIT:  I just watched like the first minute of the top 3 videos, over 3G on my Droid, and it works perfectly! :D

I'm mad close of getting a droid as of now. Taking java classes at school doesn't make it any worse ;)
Maybe I can peek into this when it's open source'd and learn a thing or two ^^

 Looking like it is coming along nicely after a small amount of time.

I can't get the thing to work at all.  I tapped my screen, but I've got no media controls showing up at all.  The thumbnails look great, though. 
 
I went to the link in the OP to submit the issues, but I couldn't figure that stuff out either.  =  /

Holy crap.. I might stay with my class before I sink my teeth into this stuff..

" @harris: Still on 3G.  I've gotten it to work a couple of times now, but I will still get force closes once in a while or the occasional "no controls coming up".  However, it's become less of an issue finally and I've got videos coming up more often.  Maybe it's just the loading speed on 3G.  Also, the top video on the list always has the wrong thumbnail for me unless I scroll through the list quickly and come back up.  It does freeze up, however, if I have a text come in and check that...or an e-mail.  =  /  Regardless, your work and dedication to this has been tremendous, sir.  Greatly appreciated! As someone getting an Android phone in the not so distant future, In advance I'd like to say Thank You! I never thought it would actually happen.

I want to get a Droid. I'll download this when I do!

Development may be a bit slower over the next few days due to lots of work, Uncharted 2, Aion, New Super Mario Bros Wii, MW2, Dragon Age, Left 4 Dead 2, and thanksgiving left overs. 

Nice if there were any Android handsets in my market that were decent I'd totally jump ship for this. Well, one of the reasons.

nice app but i hate my droid trying to get my iphone back. i unlocked my g1 for att and i regret ever leaving the iphone behind...

I've been working on tabs for news and other things that aren't videos. Should have a preview of it tomorrow.

May have to delay the preview of tabs to tomorrow. Also, is there anyone who would like to help with several icons for the application? Please send me a PM if you'd like to help.
