Hey guys,

Just curious, does anyone know if game companies still send out review copies of the games to GiantBomb like they used to when our site's personalities used to be on Gamespot?

Do you think the site is that well-known enough that they're getting copies of stuff sent to them, instead of having them pick it up for themselves?

On a semi-related note:  I kinda miss the format that On-The-Spot had in terms of having game companies coming in on video to showcase their stuff live =(.  If they have that now with their live show thing, I apologize heh.. I can't see it since I'm not a paid member.

Nah, I doubt anyone's even ever heard of "Giant Bomb" I mean they rarely do interviews, have special guests or anything like that.

Yeh they get review copies.

So far only Bastion (sp?) has been shown.

Yeah, of course. Almost all of the games they review are sent to them, only on some rare occasions do they have to seek out a copy. Also, they have people come and show them games pretty regularly, have you ever watched their Quick Look EX?

Yeah they do. Sometimes they don't always get one.

I've watched a few in the past, but have stopped watching videos too much on Gbomb - I blame it on the bandwidth cap we get up here in Canada :/.

I wonder what they do with the copies of games and other stuff (like on Tested.com) when they're finished reviewing it xD

I'm quite sure they get their fair amount of review copies sent to them, but certainly not all the time.

Also, they do have a similar feature on GiantBomb like "On the Spot", they call it "Quick Look EX".

Companies still send them review copies. It isn't a guaranteed thing though, which is why they need to buy some of their games.

I think GB seems to make what happens with review copies and such moderately more transparent, which seems to result in reviews that come out more as if they are lining up with fans to buy games when they come out.  Somehow- I approve of this.

sites dont really have to be all the big to get review copies.

if you look at the rankings, however, giantbomb is like 5000th in the world of all web sites. so yeah, still pretty big

A lot of companies know about Giant Bomb. They also receive review copies.

I think they might still get a few though the whole crew is really transparent when it comes to this stuff.

Like for example the Bulletstorm review

From Jeff's formpring:

When's the Bulletstorm review coming out, dicktits?

Jeff- "We declined to attend the review event for this game and, as a result, did not receive an early copy. We'll have a review up this week."

Reminds me of how Giantbomb never reviewed Red Dead Redemption because apparently Rockstar refused, for some reason,to send them a review copy.
