Hey, I have a friend I want to get into video games. She does too, I think. But what game would be good for her? Her sister has a PS2 and I want to get her a game, but which?

Kingdom Hearts seems good. A pretty simple control scheme with an enjoyable story and characters.

Hmmm... as Fr0Br0 said, Kingdom Hearts actually seems like a really great suggestion. Every single girl I know, no matter if they like video games or not, has liked Kingdom Hearts. Maybe Sly Cooper or Ratchet and Clank would work too.

Jak and Daxter or Sly Cooper. Platformers are a great genre for people who are just beginning to play video games.

Probably some GoW 2. Make sure you crank up the difficulty.

Most gamers I know started to game in their early childhood. Chances are, if your friend never got into them, she never will. She might have fun with a game or two, but that's about as far as it will go.

I would recommend Jak & Daxter...I absolutely love that series and I don't think the original is too difficult for newcomers.

It's sort of hard getting people to pick up a video game if it isn't their thing. I've had countless girlfriends I've tried to get into games with me, but the closest I ever got with them was getting them to play a bit of Lego Star Wars Co-Op with me. I'd suggest that.

My sister loves Ratchet and Clank, so that's a good start. Don't get her Kingdom Hearts; the controls are a bit unwieldy and the game is easy to get lost in.

Any games out of these series: Sly Cooper, Ratchet & Clank or Jak & Daxter. Psychonauts is a brilliant game to and it isn't to hard to get into.

How about Burnout 3: Takedown?  It's not too hard, has lots of game play options, and is incredibly fun.  I've always found Crash Mode addictive, as well.  You may want to go back and dust off Crazy Taxi in that same vein.  A simple game that can be a lot of fun.  Most racers are point and go, so complex controls are not a big hurdle to over come.  You may want to find an old cart racer of some sort if she enjoys easy racers.  The SSX titles may work for her, too.

If she's interested in something a bit more girl-centric then the old Fatal Frame games may be a route you two decide to travel.  The heroines are steadfast in their pursuit to solve the mystery but violent action is not the focus.  In other words, they don't beat anyone over the head with a crowbar.  If she perfers non-violent games, in addition to the endless variety of Sims games, there were a couple of Harvest Moon games released on the PS2.

Finally, you may want to look into Okami.  It's pretty and a remarkable game to boot. This might be your best bet for a gift other than Kingdom Hearts.

For me, there are no games for beginners, they are based on whether you play the game or not. If you love the game, then you will play it with all your heart and desire, if the game is not what you want, then you will think that it is difficult to play and that it is boring. There are a lot of good PS2 games, but here are a few that I played in 2022 and plan to continue with some in 2023, and I think that some of them can be classified like games for beginners and you can download it from https://www.romspedia.com.

  • God of War I & II
  • Need For Speed - Underground
  • Mortal Kombat - Deception
  • Time Crisis 2
  • Jak And Daxter - The Precursor Legacy
  • Metal Slug Anthology
