Tossup, Brotherhood originated the best multiplayer of the generation by a long shot and Bayonetta is the best character action game ever made.

AC2:B is another AC game, even if it did have an incredible multiplayer (which got shit as soon as people started using eagle vision, ruined the whole thing) and one of the best AC single players.

It's still not Bayonetta.

This is pretty tough. I like both games quite a bit but I wouldn't say I'm passionate about either one. In the end, Bayonetta, for me, was more memorable so I got to go with that.

Not my favorite AC game but it was pretty great. As for Bayonetta I have no interest in the god of war type games.

Bayonetta is insane, and I love it, but I have to go with Brotherhood.

Never played Bayonetta, but Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood is the second best game in the franchise (2 being the best, despite not having multiplayer and looking dated now).

I'll go with this. Bayonetta is a great playing game, but by the end I found its constant barrage of insanity to be more than a little overwhelming.

Something has just occurred to me: are we voting for the best game of the console generation, or the most influential game? Nobody seems clear on that, so they're voting on entirely different standards. Remember, guys: HISTORICALLY SIGNIFICANT DOES NOT MEAN GOOD.

Everyone who voted for Ass-creed is awful. Bayonetta is one of the best action games of the last 10 years.

I absolutely loved Brotherhood. I still really need to play Bayonetta though.

Bayonetta is getting robbed. Brotherhood marks the decline of that series for me.

I loved Bayonetta's combat, but the characters story really put me off. I actually like AC2 over brotherhood, but in this round brotherhood takes it for me,

Bayonetta is still my favorite Platinum game - batshit crazy in all the best ways, and excellent gameplay to boot. I don't often replay games, but the combat is so fun I had to go back through a second time. Sorry Ezio!

Also: In the last level of Bayonetta, you ride a motorcycle up the side of an active space rocket and punch God in the face!!!! ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED MY FRIENDS???

Bayonetta is one of the best, pure, action titles ever made, and easily the best one of the generation.

Voted for bayonetta. I knew it wasn't going to be winning this poll. I'm surprised that Assassins Creed 2 isn't here, though. I guess Brotherhood was the best iteration of the Assassins Creed formula.

I wanted to vote for Bayonetta just out of spite towards you fuckers that picked Brotherhood over ACII, but damn if I don't love Brotherhood as well(but it's no Assassin's Creed II, you monsters!)

If this was Assassin's Creed 2 I would be fighting for it hard but since this is Brotherhood I immediately went with Bayonetta. I don't get how people saw past the mission design and kinda grindy economy when playing Brotherhood. I loved the assassin mechanic and that whole element, and hey its Ezio again, but at some point I found myself in the weeds with all that investing and some of the missions had frustrating checkpointing.

The only downside to Bayonetta is its lacking performance on PS3 and lack of a PC version to make it look super nice. But still, it was Bayonetta that proved that with a little style and fun you could actually recontextualize what would otherwise be another tedious example of a sexy female character in games. Also, Brotherhood doesn't have Sonic ring sounds.

Not only that but you punch god into the dang sun! Suck it god!

Bayonetta is one of the best games around. Brotherhood's multiplayer is unique but the single player structure had already become tired at that point. This is a not even a contest and yet Brotherhood appears to be winning.

Having motherfuckers appear out of no where to do dirt is the best!

Bayonetta is definitely a superior game, especially in context where brotherhood was just rehashed AC2. But I can deal with the fact that most people can't appreciate it, or likely didn't play it.

I like AC but come on Bayonetta is always the right answer.

I feel like Brotherhood is more of a complete package. Bayonetta is really, really good at the one thing it does but I don't care for that one thing.

@chop: I feel pretty much the opposite. The setting and the characters are the only parts of Brotherhood that really appeal to me, everything else feels exactly the same as every other AC game.

Bayonetta. It's got a soft spot for me just for it's combat and over the top antics.
