BioShock 62%
Bastion 38%

Main thread

Full bracket

Two games where people talk to you a lot. And they both begin with B. I don't know if that will have any impact on how you vote, though.

I know that BioShock is most likely gonna win, but I have to give it to Bastion personally. One of the most fun games I've played in a long ass time that backs it up with a solid world and cool story which BioShock has but doesn't do so hot on the former category.

I never played Bastion, but it seems cool. It has fantastic music. I'm not a fan of the character art. Bioshock, however blew me away in just about every way except for the ending.

I played Bastion through twice back-to-back and loved it after a couple of hours.

I played BioShock six or so times, not back-to-back, and loved it after fifteen minutes.

Oh crap, you just made me realise that I did the same thing. I immediately started playing the game again when I finished it.

I really enjoyed the shit out of Bastion when I played it, but I feel a little tepid on it now though.

I hate that this match-up had to happen this early. I loved Bastion an awful lot, but Bioshock is one of my favorite games period, let alone this gen.

Bastion has a better soundtrack overall. Sadly that's the only pedestal I can knock Bioshock down from.

I never finished Bastion. Bioshock was a brilliant game when I knew nothing coming into it. The statue of Ryan you see as you enter the lighthouse still gives me chills

I fucking love Bastion, but Bioshock is just one of those games that kind of captures a moment in time. I wish Bastion had a chance to go further in this bracket though.

The world in BioShock is more interesting than the world in Infinite, but the ending of Infinite is more interesting than everything in BioShock.

So Bastion.

Fuck, man. This is the toughest choice so far. I love the shit out of both of these games. I guess...I'd probably have to go with BioShock, I'm sorry, Bastion, I'm so sorry but BioShock's story is great on two levels, the game itself and on a meta level.

Both have totally amazing worlds and stories, but I give it to Bastion in the gameplay department. Bioshock is A) broken because of that tonic where you turn invisible if you don't move for like 2 seconds, and B) had all those fucking Pipe Dreams hacking puzzles. Bastion's gameplay is just amazing.

Also Bioshock really wears out its welcome after a certain main character dies, yet the game keeps going for like 2-3 more levels that aren't as interesting as the earlier levels, then has that super dumb final boss.

Definitely Bioshock, Bastion was a solid game but basically a one trick pony around sound design.

Still it's a testament to SiperGiant that they are even in the conversation considering the budget disparity between a game like Bioshock and them.

Very tough. I voted for Bastion because I have universally fond memories of it and Bioshock had some frustrations and is kind of difficult to go back to after Infinite. Honestly though, I think the main problem was that I played Bioshock a few years after it came out and kind of already knew its big twist. Bastion on the other hand was just a fantastic, unsullied experience for me.

so I was replaying Bioshock 1 a while ago, it's a game that feels like it's about to fall apart every single second unless you reassure it that it's "special". To be honest, it's nice to know there's something that isn't a bald space marine style game here, and it's a world worth revisiting.... but compared to Bastion..... nah, Bioshock just doesn't cut it.

I never really got the hype behind Bastion. I mean, I get it. Greg worked on it. It's nothing special as a game. The narration is kind of neat but I wasn't as blown away by the execution of it as the concept. It's boring to play and relies heavily on achievement grinding and arena combat.

Bioshock was a good story that was inspired by its predecessor, system shock. It's not one of a kind in concept, but will always be a game I can go back to and enjoy. Bioshock easily.

This is the first heartbreaker of round 2 in my opinion. Bastion is probably the best Indy game left in the bracket but this is Bioshock we're talking about. Both games have nearly flawless stories, art styles, and mechanics. This is a case where the one with higher production values is inherently a better experience. Sorry Bastion. :(

To say nothing of my not loving the combat in Bioshock--it's an experience most people probably don't share--I feel very confident in asserting that Bioshock really lost its edge after the big plot twist. The fact that almost no one mentions the twist and what comes after when they talk about why they love the game supports my argument.

I would never pick Bastion for being the best game of the generation, but I do feel that it's fun, visually striking, had an innovative approach to storytelling and has no obvious weaknesses. To me, it's clearly the superior of the two games. It doesn't matter to me who wins this poll, but it would irritate me a little bit if Bioshock was considered a contender for Game of the Generation™ specifically because of its story because its story is ultimately quite toothless.
