Obviously I can tell Random PC Game is an exclusive series. What else? The subscription page gave me an initial overview but truthfully, sadly, I really did just get a monthly subscription so I could watch these guys play Blade Runner (damn you GiantBomb!). Otherwise, I only came to GB for Quick Looks, Patrick's Worth Reading post and the podcasts I download through my iPhone. What should I be taking advantage of now that I'm a premium? I noticed the yearly subscription was $50 (and if I were to keep this going through a full year I'd have paid $60...) so obviously there must be a TON of content I've been missing...right? I'm guessing those TNT things that Patrick always refers to on podcasts...what else?

Keep in mind, I don't play a ton of games, for a variety of reasons including the gaming press, but I just love these guys' enthusiasm for games and envy the amount of fun they have playing things I'd never touch, so I wanted to support for a while. So my main goal here for as long as I subscribe is entertainment; where's more of that at?

Watch the Random PC Game videos for Phantasmagoria, Police Quest: SWAT and Outcast. Flight Club is also pretty good. Some of the best videos on the site. Personally I don't watch TNT's very often because I usually get bored of them. Other than that, go through the subscriber tab and watch whatever interests you.

Watch the Phantasmagoria RPCG. It's probably their best one. Similar gems include Police Quest SWAT and Ripper. Jeff's Jar Time videos are pretty good if you like Jeff philosophizing on the state of games while telling the viewer that "Your parents are going to die one day". TNTs are a mixed bag and there are some really awesome ones to go along with really boring ones.

If you want to be brought back to the good ole days of Whiskey Media, watch some Happy Hours. Good bits are scattered but they're all pretty decent.

Phantasmagoria

All the flight clubs

Baldurs gate is good

Go watch the Fortune Street TNT if you missed it

Dwarf Fortress is neat

That's all off the top of my head.

If you're into the Random PC Game stuff, be sure to also check out the Load Our Last Save videos, which is basically Random Xbox 1 Game.

Depending on your tastes, I'd also consider checking out the Member's Only SNES stream, the Lantern Run videos, and the Doom 2 Breaking Brad play-through, those are all pretty great.

What's the SNES stream? My gaming days go back to NES so the SNES is one of the more nostalgic moments of my childhood, I'd love to see SNES stuff (I know there's the Chrono Trigger Endurance Run, but I've played that enough myself that it bores me, plus it was available for free). I'll check out the DOOM II stuff, I noticed that somewhere before and couldn't watch it. Haven't enjoyed FPS much since Call of Duty II/MOH: Underground but I definitely have a fondness for those early pre-3D card days.

There is this one: http://www.giantbomb.com/thursday-afternoon-snes-time-yall-071212/17-6331/

And here is part 1 of a more comprehensive SNES broadcast: http://www.giantbomb.com/members-only-snes-party-part-01/17-4747/

They're basically just Jeff or Ryan bringing in boxes of old SNES games and playing them with commentary. Fascinating stuff if you're interested in gaming history.

I'm happy my 100th post was helping a fellow duder.

The RPCG and Load Our Last Save are the two best series and pretty much all of them are worth watching. Breaking Brad is much more interesting to watch live with a bunch of other people in the chat, they're not nearly as fun archived. A lot of the one-off ones such as the Welcome Back Tricaster and the SNES Party are pretty good as well. If you want to see Jeff's thoughts on things the Jar Time videos are great, he usually goes a little behind-the-scenes and is also much more serious in them than the regular content. You can skip most of the TNT and Happy Hours, there's a few that are still fun to watch but you can skip most of them other than the ones recommended here. There's a lot of miscellaneous behind-the-scenes stuff as well such as the Game Of The Year and E3 videos , I love seeing that kind of stuff and most of it is shorter than the regular ~2 hour features.

Check out at least one of every series and see if it's something you like and if so keep watching, if not then feel free to skip it. The one I'm going to say is a must watch is the Drew Returns From North Korea video, has nothing to do with video games but is a fascinating look at North Korea, easily one of the best videos on the site.

Since I can't seem to find the answer to this on my own, how many of the Subscriber features are live? TNT, Happy Hour, apparently Random PC Game (God did I wish I could contribute to that chat throughout Part 01!)...is a lot of the Subcriber value in writer interaction? Is that fair to say? I remember seeing something about the Red Phone or whatever that I could call anytime after I made my payment.

Lantern Run (all of them in order), Phantasmagoria, Police Quest, Crusader: No Remorse, Welcome Back Tricaster Part 2 (this is pretty much Ryan playing through the early parts of Dark Souls), and Snes Party.

You need to watch this forgotten "Gem".

All of the behind the scenes videos are pretty good, but humor is not the focus.

Yeah it's not necessarily humor, just enthusiasm. I lost it for games pretty early in the PS3 life cycle, recently reignited a little by free games on PS+, but I still really enjoy hearing these dudes spend an hour talking about a single game on the podcast or Quick Look. Takes me back to my younger days. If it wasn't for football I'd be knee deep in the Pokemon Snap & Friends video (I must reiterate that I gave this site $5 to watch them play Blade Runner, a game I beat like a dozen times) just because a neighbor of mine made me learn to love that game as a kid. I want to know where to look for any moment where the GB crew is loving or hating a game and showing me why that I couldn't get from the Quick Look series.

Oh, there's one more classic TNT nobody's bringing up, and that's the Dead Island TNT.

A lot of the premium videos have been live, though Jeff's Jar Time series is not a livestream. I actually wish Patrick WOULDN'T choose to do Spookin' With Scoops as a livestream, as I think horror works way, way better when you're not actively trying to entertain a live audience.

@Nodima: Since you only have a month, watch what you can. Here's a list of videos that convinced me to subscribe.

  • Phantasmagoria - Starts off slow and the duders kinda bashing it, but around an hour in the story starts to work and become interesting and turns into an Endurance Run, probably the best video on the site, watching it is a must.
  • Police Quest: SWAT - Short compared to other RPCG but it is very funny, the last 30 minutes is classic
  • Burn: Cycle or Ripper - Either one will work but are funny as hell, I personally like the Ripper one because it has Jeff and Ryan and the game is pretty ridiculous
  • Fortune Street TNT - It's a marathon but the entire thing is entertaining. Majority will probably say it is the best TNT or at least top 2 or 3. I watch it about once a month because it is still very funny.
  • Any of the Breaking Brads - Doom 2 is good but it is 9+ hours of video, I like the Geometry Wars because Jeff and Patrick are just trolling him the whole time, same as the Mile High Club, if you watch that one make sure you top it off with the last part of the Big Live Live Show Live, amazing.
  • Members Only SNES Party (2011) - One of my favorites, if you like classic games then this is a must watch, Jeff playing Home Alone is..... mesmerizing

Jeff's Jar Time series is pretty kick ass.

@Nodima: It depends on who's running the stream, and what show it is. For Random PC Game, it usually involves Vinny or Dave saying, "Let's ask the chat what we should do."

When Brad and Ryan were doing the Olympic Games Olympiad, there was a lot of chat interaction. It usually has to be the chat hivemind spamming something (videos of javelin throwing accidents, which they asked about) to get a point across, but Brad will also pick out individual questions/comments if they are good. Now that I think about it, Brad is the only one that's any good at running the chat.

In Breaking Bad chat is actually not allowed. It still runs, but Brad is, under no circumstances, allowed to have any help from anyone that has any real tips (aka chat). Jeff is really strict on this, so if he's on the couch save your typing. I don't recall them answering any questions on this segment, but I also don't recall the chat asking any.

Big Red Phone was lost after the move to the new office. If you really want to interact with them, there's a premium podcast where Dave and Jeff + whoever they can find take call-ins. I don't know when that happens, though. Jeff's Jar Time videos are just him answering questions from a site called Formspring.

All of this premium content is best watched live. The live chat isn't the greatest, but it's also pretty fun, and occasionally pretty funny.

I'm not planning on just a month; I can take a little bit to feel things out and see if it fits in my budget. I just know I'm safer setting $5 aside than $50 (especially since I already have PS+ on a yearly basis) even if I'm spending $10 more a year (oh no, one less pair of beers at a bar...).

Thanks for the recommendations regardless, and good to know how long Doom II is. Is that because Brad is terrible at the game (no spoilers, lol, it's just only taken me 3-5 months to catch this trend...)

@Nodima: He's playing it on Ultra difficulty (second hardest) because there is an achievement to beat the game on it. He was only halfway through the game when they started and they just spaced it out. You could watch the last few parts because they brought in guests and stuff. If you are going to stick to a premium then watch everything I suggested, well worth your time if you enjoy watching the crew play games.

It isn't a premium content but also watch the Matrix Online Finale videos, I just watched them recently and it is very funny. Anytime they cover a MMO that is being shut down is great content.

@Little_Socrates: Oh I see, sorry for the misunderstanding. Livestream I'm fine with but his desire to explain every single thing is annoying. He should just ignore the chat and play the game as if we aren't there, let us just talk in the chat while he plays.

Almost all of the subscriber videos are live streamed except for Jeff's Jar Time videos and some of the behind-the-scenes stuff. Most of the subscriber stuff is just the archived version of the stream which is why a lot of the times you'll hear them say "Let's ask the chat!" or "X out of the chat wanted to know...". I never ask questions or really interact with the chat myself but some people really like being able to ask questions or make a funny quip and knowing they might get it actually asked and answered on stream or have it read out, it helps to get people more invested and interested in the content. If you are wanting to interact with the crew you will be able to whether it's through a live stream chat, a Jeff's Jartime video or through a Bombcast email. Being able to interact with the crew for me is mostly the icing-on-the-cake more than the reason I'm subscribing, if I want to do it I like knowing I can but I'm don't feel that my membership is losing anything by not doing so.

OK, that's fair. Relating back to the Quick Look threads (since I don't have a profile yet) I've done music writing for nearly four years so I'm used to having people try to connect me to otherwise nebulous people like Project Pat or Kendrick Lamar through my totally random connections, so I'm never really pressed to participate in live streams (even by artists I'm supposed to be interviewing or reviewing) if only because it seems so...fanatic-like. But it's interesting to know a lot of this content is live, even if that somewhat makes me skeptical about going past two or three months with this subscription. Hopefully even the archives are as fun/informative as the Quick Look and Podcast archives are.

@Nodima: Iphone? I recommend the GiantBomb video buddy app and with premium you can download videos and watch them whenever you want. Also, yeah Random PC game is great.
