I'm dying to play Grim Fandango. I've owned it for about 5 years, and couldn't get it to run back then. Now, I'm trying to use a replacement installer, but I can't find my disk B! Anyone know where I can legally find the files for, or maybe buy an actual disk B?

ive heard ResidualVM works wonders on those old adventure games if you are having troubles. as far as disk b, unless you snag it cheap on ebay (which is apparently not easy) there's no real alternative to get it legitimately. unfortunately when games are as scarce as this one people are more likely to turn to pirating even though they are willing to actually buy it....

How is this title not "Grim Fandang-woes"?

Ebay would probably be your best bet.

If you own a legit copy, even if it is unplayable, you could argue the case for getting a bootleg version - morally if not legally.

I thought this thread was gonna be about that feeling you get whenever you accidentally took out the scythe. Kinda amazing how LucasArts hasn't tried reselling its other classic adventure titles besides those 2 Monkey Island remakes.

Speaking of which, a mod was released recently that lets you play Grim Fandango as a point and click game.

@thunderslash: I'm surprised they haven't tried making a few quick bucks off their old properties. Sierra released a quest anthology or collection every other year in their prime it seemed like. Indian Jones Fate of Atlantis (fantastic game) and Loom (never got into it) are both on Steam, I'll will vouch for IJ, it is worth every penny. 3 ways of playing it! Wit/Team/Fists.That is one kickstarter I would support, doublefine/Tim Schaeffer buying grim fandango so they can sell it again, or even let GoG sell it.

I bought a boxed copy of this game at a garage sale along with homeworld for 5$. As a 21 year old I have no concept of these games. Are they worth me going back and trying them?

@beachthunder: Hey, thanks for pointing this out. Now I have a great reason to finally finish Grim Fandango!

Grim Fandango is an interesting one, because they went for the Playstation 1 era Final Fantasy style of pre-rendered backgrounds and polygonal characters, so the visuals have aged pretty poorly in comparison to some of its contemporaries like Full Throttle and Curse Of Monkey Island, but the actual art design is incredible and it's just an absolutely fantastic adventure game. I absolutely adore it, but I also got the the game in 1998 or thereabouts, so I have the context of what it was like when it was brand new. Hard to say how it would hold up in 2014 for somebody with no context for the game, but I do highly recommend trying it.

It's a real bummer that Grim Fandango (and plenty of other games of its ilk) hasn't been made available digitally anywhere yet. I'm really glad that I still have my CDs.

I've wanted to replay this for so long, but the process of getting it working always puts me off in the end. One of my all time favourites and absolutely worth playing if you haven't already. It's funny and sweet and really emotionally engaging as well.

Oh this is just reminding me of when I played Grim Fandango at release; got halfway through and realised my game never had a second disc in it to begin with.

Who even owns this property now that LucasArts is closed?

@veektarius: Good question. Are they the ones preventing it from being re-released?

They probably don't know or care about any non-Star Wars/Indiana Jones LucasArts games.

And Grim Fandango is still one of my favorite games of all time.

I don't know how well it would sell but damn they aught to rerelease this in HD with some control improvements.

It's truly epic in scope and length for the adventure game genre and deserves a revisit.

Ah, yeah, it's hard to imagine that the revenue from a rerelease would really move the needle for a company like that.
