I bought an Xbox 360 because it was the cheapest way for me to play Oblivion.
Have you ever bought a system for one game?
believe I grabbed a ps3 specifically for metal gear solid 4.
Yep I did this, but also because it was the same price as every other blu-ray player out there. Turned out to be a good choice, I'm enjoying it more and more as the years go by.
The wii u for monster hunter but to be fair I bought it off craigslist because there was no way I'd pay retail for that
I bought a Wii for Smash Bros. Brawl, I will not be making that same mistake again for the new game.
PS3 for Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe. I love me some crossover goodness and the story mode in that game did not disappoint me.
GameCube for Melee. Same reason as above.
Before it, I bought a Gameboy Color for Pokemon Gold and also loved it
Similar situation in my case, though I bought Silver instead.
And now I think the new Pokemon game will sell me on the 3DS. Animal Crossing looks pretty fun too.
Mostly it has been for multiple reason instead of only just for one thing. Last time I got something just for one game was with the Vita for Lumines. I would say Killzone 2 for PS3 but that was the game that grabbed my attention and made me consider getting one.
A Gamecube for Metroid Prime. There were other games I had a little interest in, but really I wanted Metroid Prime.
It did not disappoint.
I came here to say exactly that.
If the only game I ever played on my Gamecube was Metroid Prime I would have been fine with it.
I didn't know it at the time, but I ended up buying the Gamecube just for Wind Waker. I thought I was buying it for RE4 also, but then that was announced for PS3 and I knew I'd rather play that with a DualShock.
Actually, I guess I knew about the REmake when I bought that, and that was amazing, so I bought it for two games I s'pose.
N64 is probably the only one I bought just for one game, then. I ended up playing a lot of damn Pilotwings flying around that Mt. Rushmore and Mario at my cousin's, but it was only because of Goldeneye that I actually wanted my parents to buy one because it was my favorite movie.
Yup, bought a GameCube for Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes and a Vita for Persona 4 Golden.
PS3 for Little Big Planet. It was actually kind of worth it even if I bought the first model at full price. That game sort of pointed to the future, and now creation games are popping up everywhere. I'm buying the PS4 for LBP3 as well. Can't wait to see what the insane bump in specs will do for that game.
I would wager that every system I've ever purchased was for zero or one game. Wii U was for no games, Xbox One is for Forza 5, and PS4 is for Killzone.
Yeah, constantly. I built a $2400 PC for Battlefield 3.
PS1 for FF7
PS3 for Uncharted 2
Wii for Epic MIckey (no joke...)
Wii U for Pikmin 3
I didn't even buy my Vita for a game, I just got it because I already had PS+, turned out the games were pretty good though.
I bought a Wii for the Metroid Prime Trilogy.
Edit: Come to think about it, I didn't play MP3 until last year.
N64 for Super Mario 64
Dreamcast for Powerstone and Sonic Adventure
Game Boy Color for Pokemon Blue (I know it was an original Game Boy game)
PS3... I didn't buy that for any game I just bought it because it was within my price range. Bought Burnout Paradise and Oblivion.
I have bought pretty much every Nintendo handheld from GB Pocket to 3DS for Pokemon. There happened to be more things I was interested in play from GBA on but I still mostly buy them for Pokemon. Hence why I choose to pick up the Pikachu 3DS so you know exactly what it is used for.
I also literally only bought the original Xbox for Fable. I got it after the 360 was out for $50 and I only own three game for it Halo 2, Fable, and KOTOR 2. I barely played any KOTOR 2 or Halo 2.
I bought a PS1 pretty much exclusively for Final Fantasy VII. In fact, I bought Final Fantasy VII the moment it came out and actually before I bought the Playstation. I was a poor university student, and had enough money for the game, but had to wait a bit to pick up the system. I also ended up playing it on an absolute piece of shit TV. A 13 inch CRT with the tube failing so the right side of the screen was smeared. It also only had an RF input, so I needed this shitty AV to RF converter that required power but didn't come with an adapter, so I wired it up to some other adapter I had lying around that wasn't quite the correct voltage, but it worked most of the time. Ghetto as fuck, wouldn't trade the experience for anything.
Not really. I only buy a console when there's several games I really want to play on it. I just don't think it's worth the money if it's just for one game.
I think the system I've owned with the least amount of games is the Dreamcast. I only remember having Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 and Skies of Arcadia. But the system was discontinued so that's probably why.
When i was younger i bought a GameCube just to play Wind Waker, sold the console and the game after i finished it.
