I was looking through my achievements on the tracker here and noticed that I had some achievements for Halo Reach the only thing is I have no recollection of ever playing that game. I was so confused I actually went on my XBox account and checked them out but they are there too. So I am assuming that I rented it and played through the campaign but I don't even remember playing it. So I was wondering has anybody else played a game and totally forgotten about it.
Have you ever forgotten playing a game?
I occasionally suffer from gamer amnesia and forget about obscure PC games I encountered via PC Gamer demo discs until years later uncovering said discs. That said, a couple days after playing Uncharted 3, I began to had to struggle to remember that I had in fact played the game mere days beforehand. It was one of those game experiences where it felt like a gaming memory from years before and I was very rusty on the specifics.
That was one of the weirdest moments of recent memory where a game almost completely skipped my long-term memory storage database.
If I don't remember how can I remember that I don't remember? Remember? As is common for those of us who get crazy on Steam I can often times find games that I have no idea what they are or why I own them all the time. They are usually some stupid game that was in a bundle, or some $.50 game that I bought just because it's $.50.

Maybe you see the achievements like I did or maybe you buy or rent an older game and then remember "hey, I already played this game"
More often than not I'll confuse something from one game for something from another similar game. For a while the phrase "enemy is EVERYWHERE!" bugged the hell out of me because I thought it was from some generic FPS I couldn't recall. Then I started playing through Mass Effect again and...it was Mass Effect.

Same here. I can remember Uncharted 2's story as if I was there, but can't remember anything from Uncharted 3.
There are a lot of Sega Saturn games that I've played and forgotten--or have just... melded together with other games. Looking over the Saturn catalogue recently, I was surprised to see so much stuff that I'd forgotten over the years. Like these Clockwork Knight games; talk about nightmare fuel... I'm not surprised I ''forgot'' these.
I've played Doom 3 all the way through twice and I can't for the life of me remember what Hell looks like. All I remember are corridors. Corridors. Metal corridors.
I played Blood Stone some time around its release and completely forgot about it when I was hanging out at a friend's house. I installed it to my 360 hard drive, loaded it up, and decided to check the achievements only to find out I played and finished it. Never been more confused.
I never have, but I have been playing games for less than 20 years. I would understand if someone older forgot.
Kameo. I got it a couple years ago, thinking I'd never played it before. It wasn't long before I remembered that it was one of the first games I played on the 360. I don't have any recollection of playing it before a couple of years ago, though.
Also, I apparently played through Mass Effect more than once, but I don't remember it.
I remember playing every game, but I don't necessarily remember anything about the games themselves.
For instance, I know I've played Uncharted and Uncharted 2, but I remember absolutely nothing about them - their plots, their characters, nothing. All I remember is explosions, Russian dudes, that prick Nathan Drake, and...that's about it.
Sometimes something, a phrase or video clip maybe, will spark a "Oh hey, I remember that!" moment.
The only case I've had where I totally forgot something was in Mass Effect. I was 100% sure I played at least once with an Adept, but never a soldier. It was the opposite, so I went through as an Adept to transfer to ME2.
Turns out it was a Vanguard the first time, since I remember shotguns and Biotics (but mostly Biotics).
Still not sure where that Soldier came from. I think it might have been a friends' save or something.
If I saw a game I'd know I played it. However, I will admit if you ask or bring up anything from a game I have played even if it's recent I may look at you with a blank stare. My friends get mad when they are talking about "Moments" in games and I am like ummm...yeah I guess.
I thought this thread was about forgetting HOW to play a game you've been away from for a while. I remember putting DMC4 down for a long time before coming back to finish it and that was a tough transition. It's the WORST when you play a game with a somewhat intricate combat system and you stop playing it. When you pick it up again not only do you not remember a lot of the game nuances but you're at some part of the game where you're supposed to be somewhat proficient at it to progress.
As far as forgetting games I've played, no, I may not be able to name them all off the top of my head but I have vivid memories of all games I've played.
