To give some examples of the 3d games i am talking about.
Batman Arkham City
Assassins Creed 3
Or that Avatar game
And in 3d i mean ones you have to were those stupid glasses for.
I'm just curious has anyone tried that gimmick before.

I tried out Halo: Anniversary for a laugh. The 3D did actually add a fair bit to experience and worked better than expected. The additional depth made it actually feel like I was holding a weapon and not a fancy cursor. After that I tried a racing game (but I can't remember which!) and was again pretty impressed.
Then I tried Arkham City and couldn't turn it off fast enough. Horrible, just horrible.
From my 3DS I find I do like the 3D on games like Layton, Fire Emblem, Fallblox. But these are all slowly paced and generally have a fixed point of view, so the eyes aren't having to go mad trying to continually readjust like I found with Batman.
My conclusion - 3D for large screen gaming works well from a first person perspective, and in other titles with a fixed point of view but is unpleasant in fast moving third person.
Yeah I played Arkham City while I was home on holiday. Parents had the tv and glasses. It was a terrible experience. Sadly it was the only 3D game I had with me. Third person perspective mixed with 3D doesn't work.
I played Call of Duty Black Ops 2 with 3D on when I was staying with my cousin since he had a 3D tv. The depth of the weapons was a cool effect at first but it made my eyes hurt really fast since the muzzle flashes were really bright for some reason.
Plus I wear glasses already and couldn't really see much since I had them off so really, it was a no go overall. Ah well, guess the only 3D for me is the 3DS kind, still gotta get me one of those.
My brother in law's TV got destroyed by a tenant's cat and panasonic had stopped making that size TV so he had to go bigger. He ended up spending an extra $100 for the 3D model. As a result I've tried a bunch of games in 3D that were already in my collection. He played through all of Killzone 3 in 3D. Stuff I've tried in 3D includes:
I've tried the motorstorms, super stardust, killzone, wipeout, gt5, uncharted 3, god of war, not sure what else. I tried everything I had though. It's cool, but unnecessary. Once I move I'll probably play 3d capable games in 3d just because I can. I don't have any issues with it.
I played Crysis 2 at PAX East '11 in 3D and it was okay, but nothing's ever driven me to buy a 3DTV or anything. Cool option that i can do without.
I played Black Ops 1 with the 3D glasses before. I played for 5 minutes and I was kind of impressed with it. It does take a bit of getting used to, but I could enjoy it. If I did have a 3D tv in my room, however, I would probably only play it a half hour to an hour at a time since it burns my eyes faster it seems like.
I played a few minutes of my brother's copy of Sly 3 in 3D back in like 2004 or 5 (with the red & blue glasses) and I've played a bunch of 3DS 3D games.
