Hey!
I'm makin' games and such at school and my professor wants me to do some honest-to-goodness testin'. If any of you delightful bomber giants would be kind enough to take a few minutes and play my (unfinished) game and give me feedback (via the survey I've set up), it'd be greatly appreciated. All you have to do is play a game and then click some buttons and/or type. You were going to do that already! Now you can do it for science!
Click here for all the info you need. The game's Muzak Attack.
Thanks a ton!
EDIT: Updated the game based on some feedback. Now has a basic scoring mechanic and more user-friendly restarting. Game still found at link above.
Help test my game, please!

obvious indeed. that's one of the more explicitly unfinished parts of the game. i've been too busy with other assignments to script a fail screen." First and probably obvious feedback would be to do add or change something when you fail, instead of just having a red image. Make it tell you that you failed and have a try again button. "
thanks for playing!
The sound needs to play faster when I press a button. I was trying to time it so the tones matched the rhythm of the music, but there is a serious delay that makes this impossible. It also just feels bad.
Put this in the survey feedback, but will also post here.
A thing to make it a lot better if possible would be to add a points system. You would get more points the faster you answer, and this would allow people to decide whether they want to go slow and steady or fast and furious.
the sound and music were kinda distracting, like i could see the idea behind using them, but playing with it muted i did much better. it would be interesting to see a version with just the music/sound and no colors/numbers and see how that plays compared to just the colors/numbers and no music/sound.
anyways...i really appreciate all the feedback! i just ask that if you do take the time to play the game, please do the survey! it organizes the data nicely.
i do apologize for the blank white screen while the game loads...making a preloader wasn't a priority. i need to make preloaders for all my flash projects one of these days.
Survey done ! :) I think the part that kinda put me off was the fact that the sound I get when I press the buttons can be out of sync with the music, and feel out of place (unless the user actively tries to play it in sync with the music). Most rhythm games are timed in a way such that the sound effects correlate with the background music (see Bit trip beat for example). Just my 2 cents ! I wish you luck ..
" Pretty good game, it would be really addicting if it didn't end at the first mistake "yeah this is something i've thought about myself.
i'm not sure exactly where to take the game from here, but all the useful feedback i've been getting definitely gives me interesting options to consider. i may not even pursue finishing it with flash. i'm starting to think that Unity3D may be a better environment to develop it to completion in.
my biggest concern going into this test was if people would prefer a game that ended after a certain number of levels or just went on ad infinitum...but that question sits at exactly 50/50 right now, haha.
done with both.
some feedback:
i think you should make it look like your in an elevator. make background graphics of the door, other buttons like open, close door. i enjoyed the music and sounds. i thought they were great. instead of making me have to refresh the page make a retry button.
make endings to the levels or the game. i only played until level 3. i thought maybe at the end of the level have the elevator open the door and show an animation of something. when a person does it wrong have another animation of something, like a person getting mad.
what i thought.
One bit of feedback (and I put it in the survey) - it looks like you were going for the elevator look, but it made it kind of weird to use the 10-key touchpad to enter the numbers since they're aligned differently on-screen (3 is where 4 would be on the numpad, above 1). So I was forced to use the mouse if I had any hope of getting things right. Other than that, it would put a different spin on Simon Says if you had to time your button presses with the music (you didn't have to, right?).
Done! I definitely think there should be something more to failing (fail sound + link back to the beginning with a tally of your score), and a points system would be great. I like the button tones a lot, very appealing.
