HEY GIANTBOMB!!!! How about having Unions?

 The reason I (and many others) are still visiting Gamespot regularly is because of the Union systems you guys made over there!
 
It was a fantastic feature that set t apart from other game sites, letting users basically create their own community inside the community. Where people with similar tastes come to discuss things and play together and work on community projects (like the Pixel Gallery and System Wars Monthly on Gamespot).
 
So, can we have that feature here, made even better with your website technology? It would certainly complete the move from GS to Giantbomb. And have the ability to better maintain them, like merging or self-deletion! Improve upon the limitless concept!
 
Who here else would like some unions?

my vote = YEAH, since i was never a part of the GS unions ... been a member since 2007 but it always felt too big for me to be a part of. Giantbomb is just perfect for unions/groups

The only aspect I liked about unions was being part of a smaller community within a larger community.  On Giant Bomb everyone just hangs out together, which adds to that 'close' community feel.   
 
So basically no I would not like to see unions on Giant Bomb.

No.  At least not right now.  The community is great and has the "close" feel the way it is now.

Hell-to-the-no!! This already feels like a small community, but more importantly, why would you want to divide everyone up into lunchroom crews?

I hated unions, tons of requests every day, no one posts anything in them. It's pointless.

Nah. They didn't really serve much of a purpose and if we did implement it that would mean more work for the staff.

If you want to discuss a specific topic, you may have noticed that everything video game related has its own forum.  Hell, it doesn't even have to be strictly video game related.  For example: shoes!  Go forth and converse of shoes!

I've been a member of Gamespot for over 4 years and never joined anything or tried to understand what it all meant. I only use the forums for information or to help someone in need. My profile has no friends. Check it out, here, sad, huh. I'm good.

I remember the unions back on Gamespot and they were one of my least favourite features. The problem was that about 99% of unions trying to take off would only fail days-weeks later when their message boards ended up dead and all their members left from boredom. Even some of the stronger unions had little interesting news to post though and most of what the average user on Gamespot seemed to get out of the unions was just an inbox full of requests they didn't want to reply to. We're a relatively small community as it is and I think unions would just be a way of segregating this community into smaller, rivaling groups. I like the way things are right now, one big (relatively) happy Giant Bomb community!

I enjoy the spiritual connection every Giantbomb user has with one another and I feel as though unions would damage the community

No.  A lot of gaming websites have them and rarely ever serve a purpose.  Virtually all of them die due to lack of activity from the users.
 
Also, GB is designed to be all-inclusive.  Every forum is mashed into a single page, everyone pitches in to the the Wikis, there is only one game guide for each game that everyone contributes to, etc.

As long as console specific unions aren't allowed because that shit would attract idiots, I'm for this. For we must stop Giantbomb child labor practices.

maybe some other time when the community gets bigger. 
 
i would like to see system wars forums here. it was something that i really enjoyed about gamespot. i could get some laughs during the day and enjoying talking about things like why this game is better then that.

No thanks, with a community as small as this one, unions aren't exactly needed, the wiki serves as the "update" page, and anyone can join in on the conversation.

Giant bomb is too... Well.. Ill put it this way, 80% of Giant Bomb are users that left gamespot because of jeffs firing, 75% of those people are very elitist about what they represent.

Yeah. It is why I am not as active here as I am in Gamespot. If Giantbomb had unions or groups or something then it would be a cooler place I think.

I did like the little tags you got from the unions. Speaking of which, that's something GB doesn't have. Hey Mods! What's the thinking behind not having signatures on Giant Bomb? Are we saving bandwidth or just keeping the site cleaner?
