I've made Flash games as a job since I was in high school, and a new feature in this Unity newsletter looks PRETTY FUCKING INTERESTING.
This game is a Flash game. Regular old .swf, no plug-ins, no weird downloads, you can upload this to Kongregate or Newgrounds or whatever you want. No Adobe products needed, Unity is free, it can export iPhone games, Xbox games, practically anything.
Flash games are, and have been, a big deal business-wise for a few years. When one or two dudes can make a game that works on any machine for free, and get tens of millions of hits, that's no joke.
Cutting it out of phones was one thing but I think Unity has, this year, kicked the shit out of Adobe.
And by the way; BASTION runs in a web browser. You can play that game on a WEBSITE.
Seeing ametuer 3D games pop up here n there this year was pretty nuts (to me, anyway) and I think 2012 is gonna be the year when it all flips over and suddenly Farmville looks like Unreal Tournament or something.
