Over on Gamesradar UK one of the editors posted an interesting article on how he attempted to find a creative way of arranging his game collection.I suggest you check it out  it's an interesting read (link below)

http://www.gamesradar.com/there-more-exciting-way-organise-video-games-alphabetisation/

So following that how do you organise your games collection? Do you do it Alphabetically, by date of purchase, by system or are your games on a pile in the corner?

I don't really organise my collection I just stack them neatly next to my console.

Pretty much this. But sequels take precedent, as in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 comes after Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare but before Call of Duty: Black Ops.

Series together, then in order of how much I like / play them.

That copy of Singstar Pop I got as an ill-fated Christmas present is on the far right.

Alphabetically by system. I also just noticed that oddly, all of my current gen games are separated from past gen games, which are on the shelf above it.

My 360/PS3 games are in a shoebox. My OGXbox/PS2/Wii games are in a dusty drawer, obscured from all sunlight. I've long since lost or sold everything older than that, with the exception of a fair number of SNES games that are in a brown bag at another house. My PC games have mostly transcended physical form, with a few exceptions scattered about here and there, and most of my gaming is PC these days, so there's that.

I don't have any sort of collector's itch that compels me to organize or display games. The sooner I can stop interacting with discs altogether, the better.

Know what collector's itch I do have? I archive my PC saves meticulously, especially for RPGs. I ever want to pull up an old Fallout 2 character and run around, I've got that shit.

My SNES/N64 games are somewhere in my closet. All my PS2, Gamecube, Wii, Xbox 360, DS and PS3 games are in a very large bottom drawer of my nightstand. Otherwise they are scattered about on the floor waiting to be stepped on.

On Steam, by genre in alphabetical order.

My 360 and PS3 games, however, are scattered about in tubs and boxes. Don't have any room for shelves.

I used to trade in pretty much all my games so I don't have much of a collection to speak of. The games I do have just get shoved on a rack but even now, I only buy a few games a year and instead GameFly pretty much everything. I know a lot of people give GameFly shit but it's a lifesaver for me.

That's pretty rad. I organize them alphabetically as well. I separate the different consoles, though don't necessarily do those in alphabetical order. Also, I take out my top 3-5 games for easy access and better exposure.

I keep games in a series together and obviously group them by system, but other than that it's a free-for-all, I can't be bothered to alphabetize. And the best games don't go on my shelf, they're laid out on the table with my systems for my viewing pleasure / easy access.

I don't have a huge amount of games, so I have a Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo draw on my TV Stand. Within in that I'll separate by console, and then by last played. I like seeing a sort of timeline of my game playing.

I don't organise them, I don't have enough physical media to make it worthwhile. The only physical media I value having around are my Dreamcast games anyway, I'm looking forward to things getting more and more digital.

All 170 of my Steam games are automatically sorted depending on what option I select.

Technology.

I got my 360 and Wii games on a shelf above my TV, and my PC-games on two shelves of a bookshelf. Nothing is ordered in any kind of order outside of that. If I need something it is easy to find it anyway, as I only have about...30 360 games, 10 Wii games and 40-50 boxed PC games. Most of my game library is digital these days on the PC.

It's kind of messy now (in a sense), but I mostly do it from what games I like and play most, to putting games in a series together. So if we're talking about Gears of War, I'd put the first Gears of War on top, Gears of War 2 below that, and Gears of War 3 below that. I like games of the same series together.

I may organize them again at some point because lately it hasn't really been like that. Right now, for PS3, I have two stacks, and Dead Space and Dead Space 2 are the top two, while Assassin's Creed 2 and Brotherhood are below the Dead Space games. I have thought about doing it alphabetically, but I like the way I do it better.

I organize by platform for the games I'm not actually playing on my bookshelf, my current games form their own little pile. I might be due a re-think though, tidy shelves are something of a luxury and I'm running out of space!

I've recently sold off just about every single game I own, but I used to order it by type; i.e. shooters would be put together (with a distinction between third and first person), platformers, racers, JRPGs, WRPGs... It's always worked for me.

One shelf per system, games with colorful "sides" to the left, the other ones with black title on white to the right.

That's the best way I can explain it.

Steam games by genre, miscellaneous PC games in a single folder and most of my physical copies on a bookshelf dedicated for them, generally shelf per system. I used to organize them alphabetically but it became too much of a hassle.

Alphabetical, grouped together on the case size. So last-gen games, wii games, 360 games are all in one group. Followed by PS3 games, then PSP games, DS games and ending with my two PSX games.

By system, going from my favourite system on the left to least favourite system, then in each of the system categories I put my favourite game on the left and least favourite on the right. Kind of like a top ten for each system going from left to right.

By platform, then alphabetically.

But in reality, when I'm done with a game I stick it back in a random position among other games of its platform. That's what happens when you shelve them low to the ground, you can't be fucked to look where you're putting anything.
