Hundreds. I don't feel bad about not finishing games. The payoff in 9/10 cases isn't "seeing the story through" or whatever. Most game stories are shit. The games with good stories or good drive are the ones I'm most likely to finish. Even games I love to the moon and back stay unfinished. Vanquish is my game of the past 3 years, and I haven't finished it, and that's not a particularly long game either. I just don't feel the need to finish it. I don't mind starting it over again and again. I guess maybe I'm weird like that.

Also I kinda feel like finishing a game ends its relevance in my collection. I like looking through my collection and seeing all these "open" games; They're still games I could conceive of playing, whereas the ones I've finished I don't feel quite so drawn to booting up again. It's almost a defensive measure; "This game is too good to finish, because then it'll be 'dead' to me".

Like games that I've started and haven't finished or just games that I own that I haven't even touched? I definitely have more of the former, but my list for the latter is starting to make me think I need to lay off of buying games for a while.

About 4 (assuming we don't count MMOs as they never end), I got a few as gifts for christmas so I have a backlog that I usually don't. I don't buy games often, no time.

I typically will Platinum a game before I move on to the next, unless it's just some kind of ridiculous platinum.

Like a lot. Mostly stuff I picked up on Steam sales for <$5, got a decent amount of enjoyment out of, then uninstalled.

Including Steam? Over 500.

Without Steam? Probably around 100.

@nintendoeats: Whoa...

Take a picture of your collection! I would love to see it. I know that someone here had a picture posted of them and their collection of MANY games they owned. Was that GB user Marino?

I don't want to think back past the current gen, as there are just loads and the likelihood of me playing them all is slim. As for current generation stuff; there aren't actually that many unfinished titles.

Over the last few years I've been getting into the habit of not starting games until I'm ready to try and complete them, as well as not having too many games started at one time; because of that I only have 10 or so games that need finishing.

As for games I've never even played, still in wrapping etc - 164 across Steam, Xbox 360 and PS3 (counted last month). Again, going back past this generation of platforms is just crazy... just hundreds and hundreds.

I missed out on a few PS2 titles from a few years back, so there are those. A couple of portable titles like Persona 3 Portable and Ghost Trick (so good! Why haven't I finished it yet?!). I've somehow managed to complete the newer games as I get them-- except Skyrim.

You don't finish Skyrim. Skyrim finishes you. D:

@Durandir: Oh no, what have you done?!

That site looks great, but the amount of time I'm gonna spend on there inputting my back catalogue... hours turn into days, days turn into weeks...

When you say unfinished, that to me is a game you start but then didn't finish. So, that is 23 games. For games that I've not started yet, aka backlog, that is 45.

@Tireyo643: That would be a challenge, I'll see what I can do. I do have my entire collection listed on GB though, so if you take a look at that you'll see how this came about.

I feel worse about the ones I've barely started. I haven't completed a lot of the games that I started, but I'm still finished with them. But the ones I haven't started, like Magicka, I feel like I haven't given them their due time to at least see if I want to continue.
