I know what you are all thinking, 'NO FUCKING MORE WW2 GAMES!'
But, realistically, when in hells name was the last one to come out? (legitimite question, and dino d-day is not included in this for obvious reasons.)
Let's be honest, there hasn't been a seriously amazing one of that entire section of WW2 games. (medal of honer frontlines was close though imo.) But I do believe there are quite a bit of battles to do that they still haven't done yet. Hell, even small skirmishes would be great.
Even then, who should make a great WW2 game for a send off of those section of war games? My vote, is Bioware. I know I may get many WTF's here, even then, I think it is a truly amazing idea. Renegade options, squadmates with trust and dislikes. Hell, the entire game could be like the final mission in ME2 where anyone can die. But throughout an entire game.
(hard, but hey, if they can make something like DA2 within a year, a game that far surpasses the first. (for the love of all things good, this is in my opinion, let's NOT get started on this.) anything is possible.)
Hell, even making up battles would be fine as long as they retain a sense of realism throughout it. Hell, look at saving private Ryan, quite possibly one of the best war movies EVER made. We need a videogame version of that. For videogames sake. I believe bioware could totally do this right and amazingly well. Any agree with me on this? Or someone better suited to making such an amazing type of videogame?
I don't think WW2 games should go away... yet...
I'm so so so so so so so tired of WW2. I'll probably never be tired of modern war, but oh my god... For a WW2 game to be fun for me, it would have to be pretty outstanding.
If WW2 games cease to exist i'm gonna be a sad pandaI agree with this, even the sad panda part.

Although... how many freaking WW2 games have come out in the last 3 years? Other than RTS's?
*Looks at vast wall of games I own.* The only games to me that even seem to be WW2, or partially is the beginning level of Battlefield bad company 2, Sabatour (great videogame actually, totally recommend to anyone looking for a good cheap game.) And... I literally cannot see any others that have come out recently, and this is coming from a guy with nearly 200 games now. (probably more if we count downloadable.)
Well they already have, good ones at least. I don't have a PC good enough to play games, so I don't really see what hits the platform very much, but I don't think any good WW2 games have come out in quite some time.
WWI is where the money is. But really, I don't like WW2 weapons. I feel they're so slow and "unfun" to use... At least in the vast majority of games, that is.No gun is more satisfying than a Garand.
Except maybe some big-ass bolt-action sniper rifle.
You mean WWII FPS games? Yes, we need to get away from them. I'd love to see another Commandos game or something in the RPG category. Unfortunately FPS games are so repetitive. Brothers in Arms: Hells Highway tried to bring in squad based tactics - It didn't work - but it did show that there are other ways to show WWII. I'd love a squad based shooter or a strategy game because the era is rich with history and allows a great fiction to be created within the small span.

These all came out in 2009, so it hasn't been that long since we were last flooded with World War II games.
- The Saboteur
- Velvet Assassin
- Wolfenstein
- Battlefield 1943
- Battlestations Pacific
- IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey
World of Tanks is out as a free-to-play MMO/shooter now.
I think I played about three hours of The Sabotuer and could not stomach any more. Not a good game!
Best WW2 game IMO is MOHAA the MP is awesome and people still play it came out in 02.Also I think red orchestra 2 might be really good I'm glad they stayed with the realistic route.
I think I've had enough of the COD type WWII games. However, I think there's room for a more personal-narrative type game that isn't solely about constant shooting. Maybe taking the role of a polish partisan fighter hiding out in the woods (think Defiance) or a Russian soldier fighting in Stalingrad. Something along those lines. A tighter, more personal, less action dependent story.
Or maybe combine that sort of approach with co-op. Maybe take the role of part of a bomber crew shot down over Nazi occupied Holland, and you have to evade capture and get back to allied lines. Something like that would allow for a lot of gameplay mechanics beyond just shooting.

said:The best WWII game there is, is definitley Brothers In Arms: Hells Highway. Can't wait to see something from the new one
True
EDIT: Wasn't Singularity set in WW2
I feel like the "no more WW2 games" argument has kind of died down a little, what with the new obsession of the industry being modern military games, but yeah, as has been pointed out here there's still a fairly consistent supply of WW2 games coming and many of us still remember a recent time when they saturated the market. I agree that the world war 2 thematics have their merits, they tap into the emotion tied into one of the most dramatic, intimidating, and tragic events of recent history, but I was never really big on military games to begin with and I think everyone could benefit from developers trying to go in different directions at this point. That's not to say that the odd WW2 game here and there is a bad idea, I think it's a good one, but the trope needs some time to rest.
Yet? You mean they're still around?? Where??
Also, no. I don't want another WWII game for like ten years. Then it can have a big comeback on some crazy future system and be the best WWII game ever or something. But NO MORE. People who still want to play World War II games are CRAZY PEOPLE!!
You lost me when you said you want more WW2 games. You then lost me again when you said Dragon Age 2 far surpasses the original. You're just full of great ideas aren't you?
I think the backlash for WWII games have died down considerably since the days of COD 1 and the Medal of Honor games before the last one. I wouldn't mind playing a new one if and when video game technology significantly advances past where we are now. By then, I think the overall distaste for WWII games will have died down enough for interest for that setting to rise again. Ultimately, no setting is ever dead for gaming. Settings just have peaks and valleys.
Wee needz 1one
But developers will be on Modern war FPS' like flies on SHIT
give it a whiel b4 everybodeh goes to LAZER SHOOTIEENRGS!
I always thought a more story-driven, "personal" WW2 game could've worked. Something along the lines of Saving Private Ryan, but as a video game, where you're with the same squad throughout the game, trekking your way through the war for one ultimate goal. You'd have "Half-life" style cutscenes at the camp at nighttime, chatting with your squadmates, etc. Similar to Halo: Reach in plot, but more story-focused and self-serious.

Although, which company would you trust to make a game like this though?
I'd welcome a new, quality WWII game; even a shooter. Just because Call of Duty and Medal of Honor have run their course doesn't mean others can't. That's part of why I'm looking forward to Red Orchestra 2. From what I've seen, it's looking pretty good, even though I'm not as interested in the Russian side of the war.
