So you're going to be General Lang's protege? Just remember, no one escapes the Lang Zone, once you get out it pulls you back in.
I got a Producer job at Iron Galaxy

Still confused after reading this as to if it's a game Producer position or a video Producer position (like Vinny/Drew). But either way: congratulations, man! Working with Lang seems like it would be fun, and I'm sure he's cultivated a great environment at that studio. Keep on living the dream!
Question 1: Were you asked to dive, kick or bat-tech in any interview?
(Congratulations, by the way. This is seriously awesome)
Congrats! Can you be our inside man for the campaign to get a Windjammers game made?
So what does a Production Coordinator do exactly?
To put it really simply, I would coordinate productions.
Kidding.
I will mainly help handle logistics of some projects. Mainly lots of spreadsheets and maintaining/creating schedules and such. My desk is right across from Dave Lang, so maybe he'll just throw stuff at me when things go wrong? I can give a more detailed answer once I start working.

Game producing. I have education in video, but that's not my position.

>Admittedly has no experience

>Is offered different, better job in Chicago during interview for job in Orlando
Oh Steve, you lucky dog, you. Or unlucky, depending on how you view working with Dave Lang. And also the general being shot at thing.
You think the "Oh, we might have a job for you in Orlando" was a Lang-ian smokescreen to hide the fact that they had a spot for you in Chicago?
I saw when you broke the news on Twitter and I was jazzed. Any friend of GB/Whiskey is a friend of mine, and all that. Can't say I'm not sorta jealous, even though I'm older than you and probably even less qualified. I wasn't even aware one could hustle at PAX. And here I was just being all shy and awestruck with the people I talked to there!
@cooljammer00 PAX is all about hustlin'

Well, my dream job would be "Video Helper Guy at GBEast", but that doesn't seem to be a thing they need right now. And I guess I haven't really considered moving anywhere for work, so hustling for a job in a different city might be a waste of my time if I can't/won't move.. I live in NYC, and apparently it's fairly sparse in terms of larger budget gaming, according to this dude I met who works at Avalanche (he says anyone smart makes more money working at a bank), but that doesn't mean I don't have high hopes for the future. And yes, I've asked about internships at Kotaku, Polygon, Gameological, and the like.
Really happy to hear you were able to find something. I'm a bit older than you (28), hold a Master's, and have had a nightmare of a time trying to break into the industry for the past few years. I've had a few interviews that haven't turned into jobs but am in the mix to become a community manager at a company nearby if things pan out.
I found the transition to my first full-time job to be a little difficult, took about three months to adjust, so feel free to message me for any advice.
Best of luck on the new job pal

Congratulations!
Once again, it's about who you know, not what you know.
If it had been coding I would 100% disagree. What this tells me is that this game producing @epicsteve job landed is something that you can't study for and which Dave Lang seems to think he can develop in their new hiree.
So yeah, @epicsteve, congrats and also be prepared. I come from more traditional software development so I think you'll be in charge of meeting targets, resolving conflicts and keeping people motivated, probably also being a buffer between your company and partners/client. So yeah, there's probably enormous benefit you can bring them if you keep an open mind.
Edit: D'oh! Didn't see that this was a two year old thread. This seems like a pretty random thread to revive.
An employer that doens't care about resumes? That sounds like BS. Just kidding.
Resumes are highly overrated and they shouldn't really matter as much as some people want you to believe, but in my opinion they unfortunately do. I hope to met an employer that is cool enough to not just look at what's on a piece of paper. I suspect most employers don't dare to just talk and listen and make a judgement on that. Your job interview sounds like a dream interview. Not saying you are lying btw. This all sounds pretty cool.
Congrats duder!
