Hey Team,

Like most of you, I've been a fan of Ryan Davis since the Gamespot days. I was fortunate enough to meet him in real life and become a close personal friend of him and his wife. After his passing, I was able to keep in touch with his wife, Anna, and my wife and I would meet up with her for dinner or hang out at Disneyland whenever she was in town.

We met up for up for dinner (first time in 2 year) earlier today. We reminisced about the days Ryan was around caught up with whats been going on recently in our lives. I told her that the Giant Bomb community is thriving and is still one of the coolest places on the internet. I also told her that the community has not forgotten him and that he still comes up regularly in discussions. She said that it warms her heart to know something that Ryan helped create is still going strong and shes advised me that Ryan's Baller Time custom New Balances now live with his brother. She then told me to tell everyone in the community she says "Hi" and to let everyone know she is doing well.

I'm gonna send her a link to this thread so post any well wishes in the comments.

P.S. I also broke the news to her that Drew was leaving. It made her sad.

That's sweet. Nice that you've been able to keep up with her and that she's doing well. Still think about him sometimes and wonder what he'd think about this or that. My best to you, Anna! Hope you continue to do well, 2017 and beyond.

Whenever a big game or a new system comes out I can't help but wonder what Ryan would think about it. I wonder what he would think about the Switch and it's 2 games at launch. The dude was one of a kind and made this site better. TANG is and was my favorite GB feature and I still go back and watch each one at least once a year. Ryan had more charisma in his pinky then most do in their entire body. This site misses him greatly in both personality and talent. Glad you shared this post about his wife and I hope she is well.

When i heard the news it was my first exposure to Giant bomb. Went back through the archives, and it's clear to see why Ryan is so important on this site. What a fantastic person.

Truly heartening to hear that she's doing well. I think all her husband's fans were terribly sorry for her loss and wish only the best for her going forward.

That's cool man, hope she's doing well. I've been posting bits from old podcasts for the past 2 month and you can tell he loved hosting 'cause he was so good at it. I don't mean to spam, just want to share couple clips.

That's really cool that she's up to meet people. I don't know how tough that could be for her. I never had the opportunity to meet him, but I still miss him everyday. <> RIP

Sorry to bring the thread down.

This is a nice thread OP. Thanks for sharing! And thank you for taking it upon yourself to keep in touch with her.

I'm very glad to hear Anna is doing well (and I'd certainly understand if she wasn't). Fwiw I certainly have been worried about her. Having suffered personal losses myself, I have an idea of just how it can change a person. I doubt I'll ever be the same person I was before everything happened, but you do find a way to go on. One of the reasons I came to this site in the first place was to have a place to be while dealing with it and Ryan was a very welcome source of distraction from my problems.

But it's tough to know what to do when you know you don't know the person. It's one of those things you just have to kind of fret from afar and realize you may never find out. So it's very gratifying to hear she's ok now. And I hope she finds peace and happiness in her life whatever that is for her.

Ryan was simply the best, we all miss his garrulous warmth and passionate zest for life & video games.

I'm glad she's doing well! With the news of Drew leaving, I started thinking about Ryan for some reason, and I had to watch some stuff with him on YouTube, specifically a segment from one of the BLLSLs where Drew straight up fired arrows in the office with Ryan commentating. I also watched the tribute for him that was put up on the site after his passing; I go back and watch it every once in a while, and I'm never able to get through it without crying from laughter.

Like some other folks have said, it's hard not to think about the kind of rapport he would've developed with Dan and others or what his thoughts on things like the Switch and its bizarre gimmicks which allow you to do things like eat a virtual sandwich would be. It would've been crazy and awesome.

Glad to hear she's doing well. I started following Giant Bomb about 3 or 4 months before Ryan passed. Even in that short period of time, it was shocking and sad to hear about his death. In particular, I felt bad for Anna, especially since the two have just gotten married.

I've since seen more clips of Ryan, watched the Deadly Premonition Endurance Run, and have listened to old Bombcasts, and continue to have a great appreciation of him.

Glad she is doing well even though all we know of her is the few funny stories Ryan has said. I've been watching the Happy Hour streams as those were before i joined the site and theres really no one who is as good as hosting shows as Ryan. So sad we wont get to hear him shout at Dan at least every week.

Happy to hear she is doing well, it still makes me sad so I can't imagine how strong she must be. Dude was an absolute legend, the site and the community miss him loads.

Wish her the best and that shes always in our thoughts.

That's such an awesome thing to do, to reach out to her like that. I hope the community donations and support helped her with Ryan's service.

It's crazy to think it's been so long. It's weird but I think of Ryan the same way I think of my deceased dad. Like how a new movie comes out you know he'd like and think "Man, I wonder what he'd say about this if I was watching it with him?" With Ryan, it's like "I wonder what he'd say to Dan" or "What would be his favorite games of 2016" or "What would he do on this Quick Look?" So much of Ryan rubbed off on the people around him to the point where you can't forget him ever as he lives on in how the gang talk, act and treat each other (excellently). I'm sure the same is true for herself. All the best, Anna!

Ryan played such a huge role in building this site. I never met him and had no personal ties to him, but I think having a legacy like this is something she could be proud of.

Listening to older bombcasts on a regular basis, it's always bittersweet to hear Ryan. I'm not gonna stop missing the duder. Can't even imagine how tough it must be for people who actually knew him in person. All the best to Anna. Love Ryan Davis.

I was first introduced to GB when they had their big live live show. It was the one where Jeff and Ryan were testing out a bacon cooking rack for a microwave. They ate what look like slightly warm bacon, and from there on, I became a fan of GB.

I started listening to the bombcast when Gears Of War 3 came out. The crew were sharing their insane experience of horde mode. I went back to old episodes and started listening to everything I could find. I loved the chemistry between the whole crew, and it felt like a bunch of friend hanging out.

While people have come and gone, I haven't missed a single episode.

I have never met Ryan but like many miss him on a daily basis.

I wish Ana all the best.

What made me sad about Ryan recently was when I thought about how Ryan didn't get to be around for the new consoles, VR shenanigans, Windjammer revivals or any of the clusterfucks like Arkham Knight PC or No Man's Sky. This made me a lot sadder than when he actually did pass away back in 2013 for some reason.

Ryan was so awesome. It was such a loss for the many of us who didn't know him personally, I can't imagine how hard it was for people who really did. But I think GB has done a wonderful job of carrying on his torch and he would be very happy with the site today.

I never met or knew Ryan, but when the news broke I was in shock and depressed that entire week. You know dude had Charisma when he is able to have that much of an effect on someone through his work at Giant Bomb. Straight up one of the funniest dude of the bunch and always had great anecdotal stories on the podcast, quicklooks, and TNT!
