You can say I am a compulsive buyer. I fall for every Steam Holiday sale, midweek sale and weekend sale. As a result I have over 20 games on my PC which I haven't yet played. I'm typing this on a MAC, so I can't look at the painfully endless list right now (not sure if I want to), but I'll try to recall as many titles as possible and list them below along with some non-Steam games also for the PC:

  • BioShock
  • Braid
  • Indigo Prophecy (that's its proper name, shut up)
  • GTA IV
  • The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena (which includes Escape from Butcher Bay)
  • Medieval II: Total War
  • Psychonauts
  • Borderlands
  • Mass Effect (second playthrough)
  • Mass Effect 2
  • Half Life 2: Episode 2
  • Trine
  • Hitman: Blood Money
  • Fallout 3
  • Sins of a Solar Empire
  • KOTOR
  • Spore
  • Freedom Force
  • Freedom Force vs. the 3rd Reich
  • The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition

I'm leaving out a few I can't remember.

So today I sat down to play as much as possible of at least one of those, and the astounding conclusion I reached was that I couldn't play any of the games I had because I couldn't decide which one to play first. I must have spent well over half an hour deciding which game to play (procrastination included). I then decided to play Sins of a Solar Empire, and spent most of the time figuring out how to play it (damn learning curve is steep as hell). The most disturbing part of the whole thing is that what I actually wanted to play was Splinter Cell: Conviction, which I do not own. I'm *this* close to needing professional help.

I wish I could sell some of these. Why the hell did I but The Chronicles of Riddick? I don't even want that game.

So Giant Bomb, help me out here. Which one of these should I play first 'till the very end? By the way, Mass Effect 2 isn't an option since I need to finish the second playthrough on Mass Effect because that's the save file I want to import, and that is too time consuming considering I have tens of games I want to play.

If you haven't heard any spoilers for it, play through the original BioShock. Psychonauts is also a fun little game to play.

I really enjoyed Trine. It's not particularly long, but I found both the puzzle solving and combat to be really, really satisfying. If got it while it was on sale for $5 like I did, you'll definitely get more than your money's worth out of it.

Ditto, thanks to Steam my PC games collection has grown exponetially. My hard drive doesn't even has space left to install anything. But when I do buy I definitely do with the intention of eventually playing said games.

Let me suggest you just pick one game, whether it be on PC or console and stick with it 'till the end (if it's single player). I say start with Half Life Ep. 2.

I have alot more games than you on pc, steam and non steam, then again your using a mac. Yes I also fall for those sales, I guess I better get started then. I'm really enjoying splinter cell conviction, remember, you need a very powerful rig to run that game, or not use anti aliasing or less of it.

Also i'm noticing i'm running out of hardrive space, I am in the process of uninstalling a third of my games to make room.

I'm gonna suggest Braid first since it should take the least amount of time to finish. It's also a truly amazing game every gamer should try out.

After that... I don't know. I'd have the same problem deciding myself. In fact, I actually have the same problem. Damn Steam and their low, low prices.

Play Indigo Prophecy. That is a truly incredible experience in gaming. It's like, an earlier version of Heavy Rain and you can see the design shining through, with an awesome story to boot!

Ouch. I know the feeling, Snail. Believe me, I do

Having recently played it myself, I'm going to recommend The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition. That game's got charm coming out of its giant monkey ears, is still incredibly funny, and the updated interface, graphics, music and voice acting make it feel like a truly contemporary experience. That being said, it is kinda taxing on the old grey matter in points, but I think it's well worth your time to check out if you like games that make you laugh and/or encourage you to think.

Oh wow, you do feel my pain. But you know what? That list is a great idea. I might do one of those myself and go back to unplayed games of past generations. Damn that list will be huge, much like yours.

These 2, or Braid. Braid is relatively short so you can knock it out quick.

If you collect old video games and video game platforms, you'll probably end up with hundreds of unplayed games.  For a fun exercise, out of all these games I own, guess which ones I've yet to play.

Or Trine.

My list also got bigger in the last month with the addition of:

  • Assassin's Creed 2
  • Gears of War 2 GOTY Edition
  • Tekken 5
  • Killer 7
  • KOF 98: Ultimate Match
  • Marvel vs Capcom 2
  • Soul Calibur
  • Shadow Complex

So i'm more or less in the same boat as you. :p

I feel your pain. It wasn't until maybe 3-4 years ago that for some reason I started collecting and buying more games than I have time to play. It's a curse, but if you're a cheap-ass like it's not too bad. I rarely buy a game for more than 10 euro.

In case it wasn't mentioned before, you can check your steam list anywhere by going to steampowered.com and logging into your account.

@Snail: I have over 150 downloadable games on my PC. I am unsure how many I have played out of those. This isn't including the anywhere from 50-100 games I have for the 360, PS3 and Wii. It's a disease, man.

Dude, you don't know the meaning of the word compulsive.  I have purchased 51 retail games so far this  year alone, at about $1100 in total cost -  Games I have bought in 2010.  Of those I have played maybe 10 minutes of about half to see what they look like and that is about it, as I go back and play games from several years ago.  The other half haven't been touched.  Rockband was the only one to get a decent workout, but that lasted about 3 days.

This is really a competition I shouldn't be trying to win.  I made myself sad now  :/

The only real answer to your problem is to stock up on a few weeks worth of food and water, lock your doors, turn off/unplug your phones, turn off the lights, and play through every one of those games back to back!

Surely no harm could come from such actions.
