I made a thing to watch GB videos simultaneously (List Updated Jul 30)

I made this web page that embeds multiple GB videos and syncs them up.

About the only thing I can ask for is a 'Show Controls' keybind or something. Or to switch between 2x2 video and Picture-in-Picture. Why I am bringing this up: If you go Picture-in-Picture, F11 for full screen and then hide the controls, there doesn't seem to be any obvious way to bring the controls back up. I literally just checked if clicking in the bottom left corner worked (It did!) but that was a logic leap of 'It was in that corner, maybe if I click?'.

@jetlag: I'm curious is the way videos auto-sync using the sync button done by comparing the audio waveforms of each video and matching the video position?

@humanity: no, it just checks to see how far they drifted from the preprogrammed delay and does a seek if they're too far off. For the most part I just played both videos and set the delay by ear.

@spiketail: yeah there's a 1 pixel wide "menu" on the left side for now. The bottom half brings the buttons back. The top half is split into toggling PIP mode and shuffling the videos around. Keyboard shortcuts might happen eventually.

I do want to report that the layout doesn't work in Firefox. At least not on the Astroneer video (Vinny Premium + Brad YouTube) I tested.

The left-side video clips over about half of the right-side video.

@sbarre: If you click the black area below the videos it should hide the controls and show the full videos side by side. At least its working for me.

Ok, I'm not sure if I'm doing it wrong, but it doesn't seem to be working on We Be Truckin?

EDIT: Oh ok, it's just because of the much longer intro on Alex's side. I was kind of aware of it on Minecraft but you should see if there's any way to wait to auto "play" on videos that shouldn't be active yet, like play and then immediately pause them until the time where they start. That would be super useful.

The way it worked was the video was pushed over until you hid the menu. But I changed it now so the menu sits on top. On the page now I try to explain that there are invisible controls on the left side of the screen to switch the videos around and unhide the menu. I hope it makes some sense.

I don't get a lot of time to watch GB content so I might never make use of this myself, but I just wanted to say props for making something really cool.

You can watch the livestreams like this. Syncing doesn't work but you can just pause the ones that are ahead a little at a time.

This is great, thanks! How do you figure out the video codes for each stream to put in the URL?

There are a few ways to get the video ID. The easiest is probably to click the share button in the GB player and get it from the embed link. You can also get them from the API.

After you click Hide Controls, how do you bring them back?

@the_t: On Chrome you just move your mouse to the very left of the screen and click and they should show up as colored bands.

I have a laptop with a 3:2 monitor. Fullscreen cuts off the top right video. I'm guessing 16:9 is assumed.

I really must be missing something because this isn't working with premium videos at all for me. I'm logged into GB and I have premium. Not sure what's up.
