I need some help finding good, preferably long, games I could play. I'm into almost every genre to varying degree except racing, sports games and harcore survival horror (silent hill or Amnisia).

I'm looking for classics or hidden gems because I already played all the recent obvious stuff. More obscure but still awesome WRPGs or JRPGs would do the trick just fine except that I can't figure out which one to play.

I would take any good recommendation that plays on PC, PS1, GBA, N64 or SNES. I might get turned off by bad 3D so keep that in mind. Other than that you can go crazy!

Already tried it. It really didn't age super well. Trying to hit mudcrabs with a sword and missing 9 times out of 10 because I made a mage who doesn't start with a lot of spells or mana was infuriating. The dialogue system is also kinda weird. I don't have the patience to read a whole lot of text to get the cool lore when half of it is useless information I already know from playing oblivion and skyrim.

Not sure I can go back after playing the witcher 2 (a game on my top 3 of all time). I think I will try when they get me pumped for 3 in a few weeks.

I've heard Moon: Remix RPG Adventure's pretty good, and there might be some YouTube translations floating about. (Anybody want to bother verifying the fullness of these translations?)

Don't Shit Your Pants

Being completely serious, this game is a shining example of how to teach the player and how brevity can be used to make a game a stronger experience.

Tales of (the one you haven't played yet).

played some of the best ones (vesperia and synphonia) already. I don't have a PS3 so those are not an option. As for the other ones on the Wii or older systems, I hear they're not as good as the ones I played so I don't think I would enjoy the experience.

Uh... how long would all three Xenosaga games be?

Wait, no PS2? Go buy a PS2 and then pick up every JRPG you can find. You'll either turn into an uber-Otaku or you'll puke from all the anime. Either way, you'll be occupied for a while.

EDIT: Alternatively, buy all of those DnD based RPG's of the '90's. Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, Planescape Torment, that sort of thing, and then toss in Fallout 1, 2, and Tactics for good measure.

Speaking of Tactics, Final Fantasy Tactics and Tactics Ogre.

Binding of Isaac is pretty good on PC, I've seen people lose a 100 hours on that game.

@AmatureIdiot: Ya, damn that game is fucked up though.

Terraria, you will never be able to pull yourself away until completion. I put about 75 hours into it and it is still fun with friends.

Jade Empire for PC/Xbox is a pretty cool WRPG that I certainly enjoyed my time playing.

Played my fair share of Baldur's gate back in the day. Planscape torment looks cool and the story is intrguing but the huge amount of text kinda turned me off. Finished Fallout 1 and 2. Played FF tactics until near the end when it became to hard/a grind. Could check out tactics ogre. Thanks for the recomendations.

I watched hours and hours of let's play on that game. I'm already burned out and I never play it...

Played a lot of that to. Managed to pull myself away before completion. Kinda moved on now.

Deus Ex? If you have not played that get it, and get New Vision with it. Mount and Blade is pretty tight too. And if you really want a time sink, Sim City (any of them) or Diablo 2. Maybe even just the Sims 3?

Deus ex was pretty great (played it a few years ago). Invisible wars was good to. Played a lot of sim city 4 and diablo 2 and I'm kinda over the sims after 1 and 2 (bought 3 a few weeks ago but bearly play it, goddamn steam sale).

I think I'm going to try company of heros for now. Heard good things about it for a long time. Might switch to the witcher or advance wars when I'm done. Thanks for all the suggestions!
