I was thinking about Sherlock and Elementary and realized that they take place in Alternate Universes where Sir Arthur Conan Doyle never wrote the original Holmes novels, otherwise people would be constantly pointing out to these characters how they're exactly like the book. That means every adaptation of said novels would also not exist. Poor Basil Rathbone lost one of the biggest parts of his legacy in these alternate worlds. What might he have done instead? How has this affected history!? These are thing I need to know.
This probably goes for any "modern" remake of any other work of fiction too! It also reminds me of how in most Zombie movies, no one has ever heard of a Zombie before, despite the fact that they're so ingrained in our culture. It's just kinda weird when you think about it.
