Idea for a new Vinny/Jeff ER

So after listening to the latest Giantbombcast I got to thinking, I would love to see Vinny and Jeff do another endurance run, and I think Eternal Sonata would be a good game for them to pick.

Reasons for this are as follows:

1.It is a JRPG, as we have all seen with the Persona 4 ER, JRPGs are comedic gold when Vinny and Jeff are involved.

2.Because it's a JRPG, it will be long! Many, many episodes of those two playing games with their commentary is a great thing. The 150+ episodes of P4 were all amazing, and having another game that can take time will be great content to all those on the site.

3.Vinny said in the last Bombcast that he would like to play it, eventually. Why not kill two birds with one stone? Play it for work, and let us all enjoy what comes from it! Also, as an older(ish) game, a lot of people might never have played it, so it might be the first time a lot of people have seen it, and it's not a bad game to experience.

Potential Cons:

-Nothing, anything Vinny and Jeff do ER wise would be amazing, this game included.

What do other people think? Would this pass as a decent ER? If not what would you suggest?

So essentially your reasons are

• and because one of the participating members would like to play it?

Well then, I guess that would probably include more games than Eternal Sonata no?

Hey OP, if you don't take criticism well, you might want to hop out of this thread before you slit your wrists.

Despite all the haters of the current ER - it is a proper ER and you are not going to get another one any time soon.

Jeff seems lukewarm at best on doing another ER at all.

They are not going to commit to another 100 hour plus game.

Is it? It's been fucking forever since I've played it, but I remember it being a decent bit longer than that.

Took me about 13 hours to get through without doing the secret dungeon.

Average mainline playthrough would be about 20ish hours.

But at the same time, I'm still convinced Yakuza 4 would make a great ER. It's long, niche, quirky, and super Japanese. It came out awhile ago, so everyone who wants to play it probably already has, and the ER won't cannibalize sales. It's not something they would normally play, but have expressed interest in playing. 
Go back and watch the QL, I'm pretty sure Jeff said he was pretty into the game but didn't have the time or patience to actually play it.

Eternal Sonata isn't that great of a game either..the story and characters are so 2D JRPG tropes.

If they're going to play any JRPG it should be Lost Odyssey, thats actually a good game.

Why are people so butt hurt that they chose Chrono Trigger? I'm enjoying the ER so far and I've finished the game twice. BTW Eternal Sonata is BOOOOOOORING.

But at the same time, I'm still convinced Yakuza 4 would make a great ER. It's long, niche, quirky, and super Japanese. It came out awhile ago, so everyone who wants to play it probably already has, and the ER won't cannibalize sales. It's not something they would normally play, but have expressed interest in playing.  Go back and watch the QL, I'm pretty sure Jeff said he was pretty into the game but didn't have the time or patience to actually play it.

I think this is less about not liking the CT ER but more of thinking of different ER to do. Just brain storming. Even if nothing came of it.

The thing is that the current ER is still technically the first time that someone has PLAYED an ER. Brad played DP when it was the Ryan/Brad team, and Vinny and Jeff have already each played an ER (Jeff with P4 and Vinny with DP) so the last of the main 4 to play an ER is Ryan. Also, just stop; everyone starts recommending the next ER during the current one, and the only thing that it does is annoy the staff.

Thats all it was. I love the CT Ryan and Patrick ER, never played CT before and have been watching every episode the day it comes out. Just started this because I was thinking how much I enjoy seeing stuff where Vinny and Jeff work together, as they are my favorite duo. I don't think I said anything anywhere about any dislike for the current ER.

If it's true that Jeff doesn't wanna do another ER that is a shame, but he does so much elsewhere that it's more then valid.

Made this thread to brainstorm/ask other their ideas on my ideas, in which the majority disagrres, which is great, as I was just interested in hearing other peoples thoughts. The ones who think this is a QQ thread need to sling their hate elsewhere, or learn to read before you assume its a hate post.

I would have liked to see a Ni No Kuni Jeff and Vinny ER but I get the feeling that Persona 4 ruined it for both of them. You just can't capture lighting in a bottle twice.

I think most people on the Internet who say "[Game] is X hours long" pick just about the shortest time you could conceivably complete the game in, where you only go for the critical path, never do sidequests, never backtrack to areas you've completed to get items you missed/were unattainable originally, never briefly forget where to go or get stuck on a puzzle, and never just sit on a menu for a minute or two while considering "Hmmm, what should I equip?"

I'm not trying to single out Canteu or anything (maybe he's right for all I know), but that is just what I think whenever I see anyone mention a game's length. My default position is extreme doubt of their estimate. People are afraid of being called slow, or something.

The only time this stance doesn't apply is in games where it is linear enough that the player doesn't actually have any of those aforementioned freedoms, like Modern Warefare's campaign, or Limbo, where the puzzles usually only kill you once or twice before you figure them out, and so on.

I just want Vinny to come in on ONE episode of the current ER and at the end of the video just say "Tune in tomorrow...!"

I think they next endurance run should be them having to read every ER suggestion thread.

You do know that the staff, Jeff being the most vocal about it, totally hate when everybody just recommends a bunch a games for ERs all the time.

We have one going on right now, and when it's done, there will probably be another one at some point, but people need to stop. ERs happen when the Bomb Crew, and only them, think it's the right time and game.

@BisonHero: It took me 13 hours. Just sayin. Although you're totally right, I ammended the initial post to 20 hours as it was a typo.

The next real endurance run is how long the staff can go without doing one until they crack from all of the constant questioning about a "NEW ENDURANCE RUN!"

After watching the nearly 5 hour long Old Pc-game stream last week, I want Vinny and Dave to complete the second game of the Phantasmagoria series. It's about the same length and if they're stuck we can back them up in chat.

The problem with these suggestions is that they just lead to everyone arguing over what the right answer is. Not only that, but it's very obvious that the crew don't give a damn about these suggestions. Any RPG would probably work, and yeah some would work more than others, but we need to stop these threads. Personally, I like them, but you guys just make them into shit with all of the hatred in your replies. Stop trying to be witty while making fun of the OP. It just makes you come off as an ass.

Yo they should play Dwarf Fortress.

Yakuza 4 would be an amazing ER but it's never going to happen.

Jeff and Vinny should play a color intensive game.

Can't we at least wait for this ER to end before making new ER threads?

The ER was a one (and a half) hit wonder kind of thing, and the longing for something like it probably wont ever be fulfilled because of how stuck up, prideful, and childish the GB crew has been about it (except for Vinny, that dude is always awesome).
