I'm just going to be selfish and pick the folks who have the most similar interests/senses of humor to my own. Jeff, Ryan, Austin, Vinny, Abby, Dan. Much love to everybody, but if I can exorcise DOTA from this website, I guess I will.
yeah this is my list. plus maybe an occasional Dave Snider as a guest appearance
Here's a bit more out there from what most people are doing.
Jeff, Brad, Ryan, Vinny, Ben, Austin. For anime coverage ranging from none at all to a whole WHOLE lot.
Love them all though, fr. Couldn't make a genuine top 6 if I had to.
I see this as an overall balance, so it must take into account Bombcast, QL and UPF/TNT. Also these choices are good for smooth GOTY discussions. Also this is assuming everyone is in the GB office.
Jeff: Jeff is the best. 1st chair on everything.
Ryan: Best host of anything.
Vinny: Vinny's great. His tricaster skills are unparalleled...
Drew: ...But I still occasionally want to see Vinny on set and Drew would go off the rails like Vinny as well, therefore he gets the nod over Jason (sorry).
Dan: Dan is in because I feel like his insanity would have worked well along with Ryan longer term. He makes for good QLs and Bombcast stories.
Matthew "Dark Shower" Rorie: Rorie is filled with loony non-sequiturs and that's a good thing in my book. Also he doesn't really screen questions on air before he reads them which is also fun.
@htr10: nothing I've seen has been remotely like that at all.
Also my choice is everyone ever except Patrick because he makes for a great antagonist (protagonist?) to Dan and his most interesting work was done solo anyway. So I guess still Patrick but he has to wear the hot dog suit and he works one floor up.
How can you limit it to just six? Drew, Dave, Alexis, Ryan, Austin, Patrick. 6 amazing contributors who are no longer with the company. I can't choose.
Your opinion. Picking your “6 favorites” out of an all-time roster of less than 15 is only fun for the people doing the picking.
Ryan, Jeff, Brad, Vinny, Patrick, Drew. To be honest, Alex, Dave (Snider), and Dan are a line change, plus Rorie as a sub goalie.
I'd just take parts of all the giantbomb staff past and present and make it into six people. No need to have favorites, it's a good website and not one person i'd regret contributing to
Forget 6. Give me all of them.
Seeing Ryan interact with Austin and Abby would have been great.
Seeing Austin and Dave interact would have been hilarious.
Seeing Dave and Jan interact would be amazing, I think.
Seeing a giant end of the year event with enough producers to do edited content would be a dream.
I'm suddenly very bummed we'll never see the Austin/Ryan/Jeff/Vinny/Brad/Dan colab of my dreams
:C
sounds like a lot of trouble
Vinny, Ryan, Jeff, Austin, Drew, and...... uh....... an unholy amalgamation of Dan and Abby that constantly texts Ben, and misses Alex dearly. Dabby is a contradiction that should not be, and knows it, but is compelled to continue on. Pity Dabby, but behold it, and and enjoy it, for Dabby is.
What I woudl like is a 4v4 version of the "High School Quiz Show" with the staff having to fill out the rosters. And NO, the questions won't be video game related! I want the GB crews to answer questions we expect smart High School students to know.
If you don't know what High School Quiz is, well it Jeopardy for kids. In the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, our PBS station hosts it. I know a lot of other states have it too.
Eh, could use more Ryan IMO.
I would've loved to see Ryan and Austin work together. Ryan was goofy and fun most of the time, but when it came down to it, that dude could go harder than anybody on the staff. Dude had innately magnificent writing skills.
Seeing this only makes me miss the former staff and people from the Whiskey Media days even more. I miss Ryan, Dave, Alexis, Drew, Patrick, Austin, Will Smith, Norman Chan, Tony G, Sara Lima. Joey and Ana from video production. Things change and people move on to other things. It's nice when old faces come back to visit.
@zleunamme: Don't forget about Coonce, Andy, Ted, Melissa, the Tested guy who's name I'm blanking on but he ended up writing for PC Gamer, Eric Pope (he wrote a couple of film reviews for Screened, IIRC) and the interns - Lemon, Perry, Kessler, Ben. And of course, Karen Snider, head of fungineering.
