If you could design a new video feature what would it be?

So don't know if you heard, but where I am in Massachusetts we've had a bit of a snafu with an early snowstorm knocking out power all over the place and I was caught in it. Didn't have power for almost two days, and we still wouldn't except now we are running a generator. Any way during that time I didn't really have much to do except sit and think about all the stuff I was missing out on, like the Captain America blu ray netflix sent me, or football, or all the fun content on my favorite internet destination of late, Giantbomb.com*, that I had planned to watch along with the football.

*It's a website, you should check it out, it's got video games and stuff and it's all right. (Forgive me I've been cooped up too long.)

One of the things I thought about was what feature I would design if someone asked me to design one. Well no one asked me, but I think my idea's not bad so I'll share it anyway.

I was thinking it would be fun to have a feature more combative than most. Some of the videos that have entertained me the most have been the New Super Mario Bros. Wii quick look, particularly the anamosity** that developed between Ryan and Brad as the video went on. Also I enjoyed the Rock of Ages quick look versus match at the end between Ryan and Patrick.

So let's cut to the chase. I would create a feature wherein Drew and Patrick*** go head to head in a series of challenges, sort of like a video game version of HORSE. These challenges could be a straight up multiplayer versus, or something more devious, like, for example, surviving a level in the aforementioned New Super Mario Bros. Wii while the other player is playing along and intentionally trolling or the like. It could be a best of 7 or something and in the end the loser would have to submit to some humiliating action which could perhaps voted on by the viewers ourselves.

***why Drew? Because he is woefully underrepresented in front of the camera, regularly featuring in only the new LOLS, and because he seems to be almost universally beloved on this particular corner of the interweb, making him a great candidate for the white hat hero. Why Patrick? Because he doesn't have a feature of his own, and he seems very comfortable playing the antagonist leading to a natural rivalry this feature would need to be compelling.

I would watch that. Would you? What games would make for good trolling? Who gets home field advantage? What other features would you want to be made? It doesn't have to just be for giantbomb, any ideas for Screened or comicvine or tested?

@pyromagnestir: That sounds great, all my creativity for the day has run out so I'm not going to add anything to your idea but I would definitely watch that.

Good idea! I think the Screened Box Office League is about as close to this as you can get for that website, but this would be an awesome idea for GB. I don't think you should limit who plays in them though, they should just be scrub leagues but spread out across a month or two with a video or two a week or something.

Two ideas, both relating to an Endurance Run:
 

• An Endurance Run, but not how you're thinking. Basically, the staff decide to play a very bad game for as long as they can. When they can endure no more, they move onto another game. So kind of like Breaking Brad, but with horrible games. Speaking of which...
• Breaking Brad, But with Horrible Games :P.
  
• Shadow Endurance Run. Basically, two people who aren't Jeff and Vinny play through Persona 4 and bring their own stuff to the table. OK, to be honest, this is something I'd want to do (assuming that the game makes for a decent feature like that), but I can imagine Patrick and Ryan doing it. After all, they're doing the Chrono Trigger Endurance Run.

@theodacourt: yeah I was thinking that the winner would then get challenged by someone else and it could just keep going and going including whoever isn't busy at that particular time from all whiskey media. But who doesn't want more Drew?

@Video_Game_King: A real endurance run of that sort would be great, reminds me of the quick look they did of the xbox community games where they would buzz when they couldn't tolerate a game anymore.

I would love to see a RAPC Game where they go back to an old multiplayer game or MMO. Get Jeff in there and hop onto a bootleg Planetside server.

Rare Achievement Hunting: Wherein the GB crew attempt some of the more difficult Achievment Challenges in games such as "Mile High Club - CoD4" or "7 Day Survivor - Dead Rising 1"

Drunken Co-Op Challenge: One is sober, One is toast. How far will they endure, how tolerant will the other be.

in the UK we used too have a show called gamesmaster.

it looks really old and dated now but i absolutely loved it back in the day. they used to have challenges each week which were dished out by ageing celebrity astronomer Patrick Moore dressed as 'Gamesmaster'.

would love to see jeff picking up where Patrick Moore left off and become 'The Gamesmaster'

Does anyone remember that video of Jeff playing Mega Man 9 in his home? I love that video, because that's exactly how myself and others I know react to a hard-as-balls game. I want that for other staff members with other hard-as-balls games. Whether the game is new, old, bad or good, doesn't matter. Just has to be insanely hard. I want to see the Bomb Squad rage hard.

Whaaaaat? Nahhhh.

I like watching people talk about games they love. Even if It's a game I'm not particularly interested in, there's something compelling about people going all David Jaffe over a game.

Proposed new features:

• Ryan shaves
• Jeff eats live scorpions
• Brad sleeps

I feel that these ideas would make excellent hour-long videos.
