I'd go for a DDR machine or one of those other weird super niche Japanese rhythm games.

Definitely a Half-Life 2: Survivor machine, because how weird and cool is that?!

It would probably either have to be Sega Rally or a vector game. Sega Rally because it's the only arcade game I have any real history with, and vector games because they're fucking cool. It'd probably have to be Tempest or Battlezone, since I have some fondness for those.

Probably something like Strikers 1942+, or Metal Slug 3/X. If I had more room, def. one of the four player cabinets (TMNT, Gauntlet: Dark Legacy, or X-Men).

Lots of good ideas in this thread... I was originally going to say Windjammers but having a cooperative 4-player machine would probably be best. So I would go with a TMNT Turtles in Time cabinet.

ehh, my mind immediately goes for the nostalgic picks...probably like a Final Fight, Street Fighter, or Samurai Shodown.

Street Fighter II or Defender, because I'm old enough to remember playing those a bunch in arcades before comparable versions were easily available to me on consoles. I actually looked up both of these this week after listening to the Bombcast, and every working one I saw was way too expensive to even consider.

Just one?

I guess a DDR machine of some kind would be pretty great, but there was a supermarket that I used to frequent that had a Simpsons cabinet so I'm gonna say that.
Loved that game and missed my chance to grab it when they put it out digitally for a hot minute.

A candy cabinet and a collection of shmups. If I had to pick one board...well, I'd say Battle Garegga but it just got a nice PS4 port that's honestly a better way to play it. Maybe Progear no Arashi?

Tekken 3 would be a sick one, also.

That soundtrack coming out of a cabinet is bliss. There were some differences on the PS1 soundtrack though. Think the latter might have been better.

If I could invent an arcade machine of any game to own, it would be REZ. Holy shit...

Silent Scope. I always enjoyed this arcade game. It's either that or Sinistar just because of his taunts.

I'd second that. I used to play this a lot at a local video store, back in high school.

I remember it having a big-ass screen though.

I grew up around largely cheesy arcade games, so I'd say Die Hard Arcade or Area 51.

Street Fighter IV.

I played a lot of old arcade games recently, and they mostly don't hold up. Especially the beat 'em ups like The Simpsons, X-Men, or Moonwalker.

I might make an exception for the Capcom D&D games, though.

I'd want a Arcade Cocktail Cabinet. That sort of thing is small and fun...play me some Lady Bug.

However, I would want a REAL 'cocktail size' with glass on top that you can sit at - put drinks on it. And, even if modern, it needs a screen that has a super-wide view angle that is bright, colorful and sharp when sitting down.

I put so many quarters in this machine back in the day even though UMK3 has better gameplay. MK2 has those vibrate colors and fantastic stages and best characters and fatalities.

@monkeyking1969: Not sure if it's the same where you live, but around my area there are a few business (2 or 3) that make nice MAME arcade cabinet kits that you can have made or construct yourself, including cocktail and stand-up machines. I wanted to get one for a long time but now that I have my little Raspberry Pi 3 with Recalbox and a full MAME set that I can play with a Hori arcade controller, I am extremely satisfied (and actually a bit relieved to not need a big arcade machine footprint to get pretty much the same enjoyment from these 1000's of arcade titles).

If I were to get a full-sized machine, though - I would still choose a cocktail MAME cabinet so I can sit and play all the games of my youth. If I HAD to choose just one game... maybe Turtles in Time? Or maybe a 6-player X-Men cabinet. edit: Oh, oh! Violent Storm is awesome. That's the ticket.

I have a NeoGeo MVS cab. It is kinda the ultimate arcade machine if you are going to only own one. Every few months I pick up a new cart with marquee art and make it something new. It is the Swiss Army knife of arcade units.
