any recommendations? even very old video games. the graphics do not concern me. as long as the voice acting and story are awesome, thats all that matters :P.
Eternal Sonata, Shadow of the Colossus (Double L or double S?), umm.. yeah Bioshock I guess. There are more.. can't think of em.
Point and click adventure games are usually pretty good about that. Monkey Island is one. They've just come out with a remastered version of the original and a new game in the series through episodic content. Penny arcade is nice too. Longest Journey, Dreamfall the longest Journey, Psychonauts, and Indigo prophesy.
Half-Life 2
BioShock
KOTOR
MGS series
I've heard Uncharted.
Eternal Sonata - Different type of story (aka long), but interesting. I have a review of the game if you want to check it out.
Oblivion - While not a great "story," I personally found the fiction and world immersive as a whole.
That's what comes to mind right now.
Excluding the good suggestions in this thread, I 'd say:
Other than the stuff already mentioned, I'd probably say Ico and the God of War games. Some might discount the God of War games because their stories are so simple, but I tend to think a lot of the games people hold up as examples of great storytelling are too contrived for their own good, eventually devolving into laughable nonsense. God of War discards complexity in favor of presentation, and ends up being a really well-told revenge story.
