Indie vs. AAA Games. Which do you prefer more?
D.
Because I feel like playing indie games only right now. I've been overwhelmed this year by so many great AAA games but I'm tired of shooting dudes in the face. I just want an experience AAA games don't really offer.
D. Generally, a lot of indie games are ones you can play in short bursts. The AAA games often need a larger block of time to sit down and get anything out of. Sometimes I'm not in the mood to spend an hour or two in a game, other times I want to shut off my phone and the lights and play for hours.
I definitely play more "AAA" titles than indie games. Do I think they are better? In general terms, no. In particular terms, yeah. And no. It really depends on the game. Some indie games are brilliant (Hotline Miami), while some AAA games are piles of steaming shit (Amalur), and the other way around.
Obscure Japan-only games, because I'm so hipster that I out-hipster the other gaming hipsters. (Only ironically, though.)
AAA games are obviously awesome but you know what to expect, while Indies are totally the opposite and unique

The wording of your poll options make an intelligent conversation impossible.
That's the beauty of it.

I should've expected you and your Japanese games. Should've made that an option.

If I like both AAA and indie games, does that make me a hipster dudebro?
I prefer good video games. Also, kill me now for using the word "dudebro".
You want to die a hipster dudebro?

Now that's an unfair characterization! @Psycosis is into the porn games; I'm into the fan translated stuff.
AAA games.
Indie/downloadable games that manage to grab my attention for more than an hour are few. Those that manage to grab my attention for extended periods of time like a lot of the AAA games are... i don't know, there's like 3 of those.
And even if most of them are by definition very short, the experience just doesn't connect with me the same as the best (and often time pretty short too) AAA games. There are exceptions of course.
@Video_Game_King: Ohhhhhhhhh. I thought it was you who played the porn games. MA BAD. Well, I'll switch my statement.
It depends on my mood. There have definitely been times where I've been wanting to play AAA titles back to back, and wanting to see the insane production values, setpieces, and action scenes that come with them. Then there are times where I've wanted more of a palate cleanser with some little indie titles.
There are great titles of both variety, so it just depends on where I'm at.
I don't think I necessarily distinguish what game I'm going to play by indie or not. A few weekends ago I played through To The Moon because my friend bugged me enough and I felt like checking it out...and then right after that I went and played some Uncharted 2 because I felt like it.
The best games are all in the middle. My favourite games are by Atlus, Double Fine, Telltale, etc. Not quite indie, but certainly not "AAA".

Speaking of, where did that guy go? Has there been a drought of porn games or does he just not come here anymore?
On topic, which one I prefer depends on what I want to play at the time.
@believer258:
He ended things. He still posts, but I Play Porn Games for the Story is pretty much done.
@awesomeusername:
Those are two very different things you are trying to create a poll about. Valve is an independent studio, whereas an example of a AAA video game would be Final Fantasy XIII.
One is type of company, one is a financial term related to the budget allocated to the development and marketing of a video game.
I like em all. Depends on the game. Although the last couple years have shown a decline in the general quality of huge budget games. So curious to see if that continues on to the next generation.
I guess it's too much to ask for a middle ground between big budget populist schlock and pretentious hipster bullshit?
