I was at gamestop the other day and i noticed they have used copies of relitively new releases for $54.99. I thought "holy crap that is way to much for a used game." Honestly is there anyone who is going to pay that price? I personally would just buy a new copy for $5 more.

If you're saying that they're fairly new releases, then of course I would pay less.  Paying $5 more for something of about the same overall quality is kind of a dumb move.

Of course if they were older, then of course I wouldn't.

I did for the Gears Of War Collector's Edition. I should have waited but it was a good deal considering it was in great condition.

The sad part is that the person probably traded it in for less than $20.

For me Iv'e had bad luck with used games, that had zero scratches and marks,  working fine at first and then working like a peice of shit after it is to late to get my money back. Thats the main reason I'd pay $5 more.

My brother and I are looking for a PS2 copy of Marvel vs Capcom 2 which runs at Gamestop for $80 which we will happily play.

That makes much more sense.  I don't go to Gamestop.  Instead I go to a local place, that is very particular about it's used games condition.  That's why I came up with my answer.

I'd definatly go with the brand new release. It means the discs could be faulty, could be a beta build of the game or even an import that has been sold.

Well it depends really. Used PC games I wouldn't, because many people just buy the game, and take the CD-Key and register it to their usernames. But I might buy console games, seeing as there is no need to fear the ability to play online. Although, if I really do support a company and really like what they are doing and what they represent, and are not some mindless corporation, then I would buy their game. Remember buying used games equal no money for the game developer, rather all the money goes to the store (i.e. Gamestop, EBGames, etc...).

No, I would preffer to buy a new game for a few bucks more. I mean if it were a rare game I would totally go for it but not for relatively new releases.

I don't buy used games unless they are relatively cheaper or if they are pretty old. I recently got Vice city for like 8 bucks used, it works fine.

Agreed. $55 for a used game is ludicrous.

No, I would pick up the game new for $5 more just for it being in better condition than some used games are.

A few days after Call of Duty 4 launched, I wanted to sell the game so I could get it on another system. They said they could give me $16.99 for the 360 version.

They were selling it for $54.99.

If it's a PS3 game I would because it's hard to mess up PS3 games unless your just rough with your stuff.

I work at a GameStop and most ordinary consumers would opt for the used game no matter how much cheaper it is.  I agree with what Sansname above me said, I would rather the money go to the developers.  But, if I'm just paying an extra $5 for plastic wrapping, it's not worth it to me.
