Is there a way to turn off the automatic video switching?

A lot of times this week I've been trying to read the comments under a video, but it will end and the page will change on me. It's also been a problem when I've fallen asleep watching a long video, and it's just kept streaming and eating bandwidth all night. (It's expensive at my university.)

Is there a toggle somewhere to turn it off? It's really getting annoying.

Go to the videos page and look for the glowy 'auto' button below the video.

Isn't this cookie specific? I'm pretty sure mine has re-enabled itself after cleaning out history/temp files/cookies before, doesn't seem like it's account side which is a minor annoyance.

I've been having the same issue, and I really can't find that "auto" button.

I feel like a moron not finding it, but can someone point me in the right direction?

Excellent, the auto feature can be slightly irritating sometimes.

So can anyone help us out?

Not sure, might be a browser based issue, but it should appear on to the right of the video you are watching next to the Random button. As noted before, you have to be watching from the video page, I don't think it shows up if you are on the front page. It would be nice if you could set auto play off by default in your profile settings. Whenever I clear my history and cookies, it always rolls back to default auto play on.

@TrulsS: You have to be on an actual video page (not the frontpage), and you also have to debiggen. It's just below the title of the video.

edit: Nvm, it's still there when you're embiggened.

Go to the videos page.

Look at the right side of the video on the page, where you see the title of the video. Right under the little mini-explanation of the video should be a small picture of another video, with "Playing Next" next to the picture. To the right of that are the Random and Auto buttons - if they're glowy white then they're on. Just click to turn them off.

You can also just go to a random video page, like a Quick Look or something, and it's in the same spot.

Edit: Beat by 4 minutes.

@cap123: @Chris2KLee: Thanks alot. Finally found it. I was obviously looking in the wrong place. The placement actually makes sense too so now I feel even dumber:)

Would be cool if this was a profile setting though. I use this site on a bunch of different computers and it would be nice if it carried over.

Cool. Yeah, I hate it. After a video, I'll try to comment, but then it warps me to another dimension.

I'd love a statistic that tracks how many people actually use the auto feature.

@KillyDarko: Happy to help.

Also, I too want to know how many people use it. The only times I have were when it turned back on and I didn't realize it.

Please, for the love of god, disable Auto Play. If not, at least make it so it isn't the default. Every time I clear my cache/cookies, I always forget to deselect Auto Play since it's such an asinine idea to begin with. By having such a feature you're assuming that:

A: I want to watch any and all videos on the website, regardless if it was even related to the initial video I was viewing.

B: I want to watch them in rapid fire succession.

C: Heaven forbid I'd like to watch a video, read the comments then possibly comment myself.

Consider it!
